Like: e.g
I've seen others but I can't think of them at the moment.
Why not ex? Does e.g. stand for something differnt?

When you mean “for example,” use e.g. It is an abbreviation for the Latin phrase exempli gratia.

Ex is already used for "previous" or "past".e.g. latin short form for "for example".
