How is the name "Kim Sam Soon" funny?

Well I don't know the meaning but the new generation Koreans think that any girls name with "soon" is funny because it used to be very common back in the days, probably in their grandmother's generation. (40's, 50's,). It sounds very old fashion and not pretty. "Kim Sam Soon" does not like her name because kids used to tease her because "soon" is an old name. For example, Koreans used to have many kids in the past and the parents would name the 1st kid Soon Hee, 2nd kid Soon Duk . 3rd- Soon Ja, and so on (that was the trend). People can usually tell that the person is around your mother's age by their name.

The tv drama Kim Sam Soon right? Sam Ship's mom said that Sam Soon's name meant Third Miller's Daughter if I remember correctly. And her father was a miller.

Like the other answerer mentioned, any name with "Soon" was common back in the 1930s or 1940s. Plus, "Sam" means "three" or "third" and she got her name "Sam Soon" because she is a 3rd daughter of her family. Her grandpa was so upset about having three girls in a row and named her in a tacky way.
