How do I defog my car's headlights?

I have a 1996 Lexus, and the headlights have become foggy, there is a whitish tint building up. Once, when I had my car worked on, the guy defoged them. Is there a product I can buy or a procedure I can do to make them clear again without removing them.

Yes, its called " Plastex" its made by meguiars.. you can get it at any auto part store.. its not expensive... make sure you have a rag, follow the directions on the bottle and make sure you move in circular motions while trying to rub off the mold from the light.. this worked great on my car.. its so much eaiser then paying 100 dollars for someone else to do it.. I hope I was a help.. good luck

  • If the "fog" is on the outside of the headlights, then you can polish to make it clear again. Basically wetsanding with a roatary sander of some kind then polishing. If its on the inside from a water leak, you may need to buy new headlights because they are sealed. If you go this route, make sure the rubber seal on the bulb-holder seals well or the lights will get foggy again. And don't touch the halogen bulb with your bare fingers!
