Do the NEW 80 gig PS3s still have backwards compatibility?
I know all PS3's have PS1 compatibility. But I heard the newer models no longer support PS2 compatibility, even the 80 gigs. Is this true?
I prefer this be answered by someone who bought the new 80 gig PS3.

The new eighty gig is not able to play PS2 games. It Sucks but if you want it to play ps2 games that bad you have to send it to PSR P.S Repair and they will install the PS2 chip that will allow you to play PS2 games

nope... ur wrong.... the only models that SUPPORTED ps1, 2, and3 games, are NO LONGER AVAILABLE. they were 80 gig models, and i belive there were other as well. buto answer your question NO the new 80 gig models do not support ps1,2 games. i kno this b/c i have the 80 gig model that came out sometime in idk... but i got it in june last yr 2008. when my uncle was going to buy one for his kids on christmas... i found out that they don't make the one i have anymore. the new ones are the 80 and 160 gigs.(i think it's 160) n the new ones do NOT have the logo on the console all shiny like the one i have. it's a matte silver color on the new ones and they only have 2 usb ports and NO memory card slots.

No, they do not. The OLD 80 gig PS3s had backwards compatability, but not full backwards compatability. So they both aren't that great with the backwards compatability thing...

Unfortunately, all new PS3's in production (the 80GB and the 160GB) don't support Backwards Compatibility. If you want that feature, you can either buy a used 60GB or the 80GB Motorstorm Pack (both of which are no longer in Production).
