This is the most ridiculous news story I have ever read. In the first place, Bush and Cheney were itching to attack Iran. If Iranian officials had admitted publicly they were responsible for the Roadside Bombings in Iraq, you can bet that both Bush and Cheney would have leapt aboard the War Train immediately.
At most, Iran has been guilty of furnishing weapons and supplies to Iraqi insurgents. Michael Ware, of CNN, says that this is a problem, but he has never said that the Iranians are the ones attacking....at least with government backing.
Does anyone really believe that George Bush would condone talks with Iran? Old Stand Tough George..."military attack is on the table" would disdain such talks completely.
I do believe that Iran wants compensation in exchange for halting its nuclear program. It also wants assistance in instigating a peaceful modern energy system. Since we need Iran's help to defeat or come to some kind of an understanding with the Taliban, it only makes sense that our leaders get together at the bargaining table.

Quite frankly this sounds like a pile of brown. Iran may or may not be helping the Freedom Fighters { ;-) } in Iraq but Iran certainly doesn't want the B'aath Party back in charge that invaded Iran in the 1980s. On the other hand they don't want a leader who would bow to the Americans who have been promoting another invasion of Iran for no good reason. In the Middle east it is not comfortable having the rogue Americans constantly at your doorstep especially when they continually but into your business and threaten to nuke (listen to Fox) Iran turning it into glass.

what is going on now is that Russia is negotiating with the US over the missile bases in Poland etal. Part of the deal is the US would drop the missile basis if Russia stopped developing the nuke facility in iran.

USA needs Iranian support because Iran has a long border with Afghanistan , the last thing USA needs is another safe heaven for Taliban.
We love all this mess in the world!
