2 middle names = horrific?

Two middle names are a mouthful, and just flat out awkward!

I personally wouldn't give my children 2 or more middle names, but i don't think it's horrific or wrong, or anything like that. People are allowed to name there children whatever they wanna andwith how ever many names they wanna. And i also don't believe that most of the people who name there kids with 2 or more middle names are doing it just to copy celebs, some are doing it to honor 2 or more family members, others are doing it to use a middle name they like and then more to honor family members or some just like the sound of 2 or more middle names. Some people might doing cuz they can't make a choice (or they are indecisive, lol basically the same thing), but i don't think that's why the majority of people do it. And i know quite a few people who have 2 or more middle names and they don't mind it at all, so i don't feel bad for the children, since most of them respect there parents decision to name them what they did and most of those really like it too.

I have 8 kids and they each have 2 middle names. Nothing wrong with that at all.

I didn't follow any celebrity trends as all my kids were born before the celebs started using 2 or 3 middle names.

If you don't like this this then no-one is forcing you to do it. I couldn't really care less what other people think. I don't have a problem with this and neither do my kids so why should it bother you.

I don't think that there is really that big of a correlation between celeb baby names and "normal" peoples baby names...at least in this example. I am giving all of my daughter's two middle names. Not because of Nicole Richie (Until today in fact, I thought her daughters name was just Harlow Winter.) or any other celebrity, but because I like the names, I like the way they sound, i like the way they look, and i'm using family names. so I don't think you should be soo quick to generalize your comments...just because some people go a little crazy and name their kid...Violet Apple Harlow...doesn't mean that everyone is obsessed with celeb baby names.

What's horrific about having two middle names? All three of my kids have two 'regular' middle names. We're not celebrities. We don't follow trends, especially when it comes to our kids. I'm from England and many people there have two middle names. Just something we chose to do with our kids. We don't walk around shouting their names from the highest hill top. No one knows unless they ask. Poor children? My kids like their names. It's a choice and if you don't like it, don't do it.

I think it's okay to do if you're using family names, like honoring both grandmothers or grandfathers, or something. But if it's just to be trendy, it can be a bit annoying. But as long as the names aren't overly long or too out there and actually sound good together, I think it's fine.

Besides, it gives kids more options to go by in case they don't like their other 2 names, especially in the case of celebrities :)

The middle name used to be for differentiating different people with the same first and last name. Now it is a place where you can put all the names that you didn't chose for a first name but still liked. I think that hyphen names are fine, but the mother madien name as a middle name with another named you like is kind of wierd

I personally don't feel the need fo two middle names....though some families have traditions that have been going on for ages.

I believe a middle name should be a name that has importance to you and your family.

I personally love 2 middle names or 2 first name combined with a hyphen and 1 middle. If it sounds good then do it.

For some people 2 middle names is a cultural thing. I think it just depends on your background.

Its a personal choice.. I am not following Celebrities and I dont care what thy name their kids. If you dont like it DONT name your kids with 2 middle names.. and if mothers choose to do it then leave them alone, they are not your kids!

Its not always being unique! It could be about a death in the family that inspires someone to name their baby after a loved one, but they still are attatched to the middle name they had already chose. DONT judge and assume were copying other people, you have no right!
