I went to a gym today ti sign up for a membership. I didn't sign up, the main reason...?
The sales person had a beer gut and appeared to be more out of shape than I am.
Is it wrong to have expectations that the personnel at a gym should look as if they may have use the facilities.
Jared, you are a jerk. I asked an honest question without judging anybody. How can you label me as a narcisist for that? Perhaps you shoud seek mental help. Your obvious goal is to try to make people feel bad. It didn't work I just feel sorry for you.
The appearance of the employee's at any organisation sends out a message. So to a certain degree, I think anyone who represents a company, as specially in sales, should at least give of the appearance that they find value in the product or service.

I myself would not worry about what the staff looks like. I am more concerned with what the equipment looks like and if it's what I need for my routine and what kind of shape the equipment is in. I work out on my own though.
If you are looking for a personal trainer then I would not want that person to be out of shape and have a beer gut because obviously they are not a good personal trainer then. Or whoever runs the classes like spin class or aerobics or swim classes they should be in shape too.
I've seen a couple out of shape people at the gym I go to but they are just customer service/sales people so they answer phones most of the day. Most of the customer service people at the gym I go to are not in great shape. The trainers look super buff though.

that's funny. Had the same experience buying a piece of fitness equipment. I'm like "dude, you don't look like you've even touched this type of machine, you should buy it"
Either way, you have to seperate him from your goals. If you are there for instruction, and he is your instructor, than yes, run the other way. You should just ask yourself how comfortable you felt there, and do they have what you need to keep you on track. Like anything, second opinions never hurt.
But where ever you sign up, you need to go in there with the mentaility that you're not going to "try it out" because you are destined to fail. Once you start, it's about success, that's it. You should have the mentaility that if they don't ask you to be an associate there, they are freakin crazy. What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve (napolean hill).

They're there for their job. I understand because I don't like getting my hair done by a lady with orange hair, or go to a dentist with bad teeth, or get my makeup done by someone with acne, etc. But the sales person doesn't have an impact on how great the facility is. YOU are the one who will be working out.

It's a gym. You work out on your own or get a personal trainer. If the clerk was out of shape, good for him. I'd be worried about how the personal trainers look if i were you. Not the sales person.

ummm not every one that is fat or has a beer gut is out of shape...chances are they enjoy a daily coldy or 5 or 6...that's besides the point....you shouldn't worry about how the people around you look, worry about your self....you obviously are the one that needs to shed the pounds...plus....tell the beer Connoisseur behind the counter that you wrote about him and that he should kick your narcissisticc self, square in the split on your backside
