Why does beer taste bad from an aluminum bottle?
My friends and I drink alot of beer. We prefer drinking glass bottled beer, but cans are OK, too. We drink Budweiser and Bud Light, and a few years ago when these beers became available in aluminum bottles, we tried it. NONE of us thought the beer tasted right from the aluminum bottles, and we have tried it on various occasions.
My question is, why would beer from an aluminum bottle taste any different than from an aluminum can? Same material, right?
Please give me your opinions, and let me know if you disagree with my friends and I. No judgement from me!
David McBryde - If you had actually read my question, you would have noticed that I asked why beer from an ALUMINUM bottle tastes worse than from an ALUMINUM can. Both are metal containers, hence the reason for my question.

I am an analytical chemist and have run into the problem of adhesives used in the production of certain containers/caps leeching out of the container/cap and contaminating my samples, it happens quite often and I'm thinking this could be the reason since they probably use two different manufacturing techniques for the Al bottle vs. Al can.

I don't drink beer, but I've heard it supposedly picks up the tin taste from the can after awhile, especially if you drink it right from the can. But if you buy the beer in cans and then drink it within a short period of time or drink it out of a cup instead, it should be fine and won't have time to pick up the "tin taste". You shouldn't let beer sit longer than 2 months anyway, so as long as you drink it right away, it shouldn't matter. You should test it though and see if it's just a rumor. Buy a case or 6-pack of beer in bottles and 6-pack of the same brand in cans. Then pour both into cups, close/cover your eyes and have someone switch the cups around so you don't know which is which, then taste-test both of them. See if it really tastes all that much different. If it doesn't, then you will feel better about buying imported canned beer, if it does taste worse, then don't worry about buy imported beers and stick to the bottles you normally buy.

Because the metal leaves a metallic flavor on it whereas glass is 'flavorless.' Budweiser is a very light beer, so any impurities in it would be more noticeable than a darker beer such as Guinness.
