Why does beer taste bad from an aluminum bottle?

My friends and I drink alot of beer. We prefer drinking glass bottled beer, but cans are OK, too. We drink Budweiser and Bud Light, and a few years ago when these beers became available in aluminum bottles, we tried it. NONE of us thought the beer tasted right from the aluminum bottles, and we have tried it on various occasions.

My question is, why would beer from an aluminum bottle taste any different than from an aluminum can? Same material, right?

Please give me your opinions, and let me know if you disagree with my friends and I. No judgement from me!

Update:

sufferingnomad - I didn't know that the bottles had a plastic liner. As for the freshness, we have tried them as fresh as possible, so I would not think that it was old beer. Thanks for your input!
