What do you think of this? Is the USA Stimulus package really worth having just anyone invade your privacy?

I found something of interest in the stimulus

bill. (If you feel the same way about this please contact your senator,

and congressman.) I urge all Americans and policymakers to carefully examine the

Final Conference Report,

Part A on the economic stimulus bill, pdf page 296 (p. 11)

and pdf pages 391-395 (pp. 106-110).

- The final economic stimulus bill permits Americans' personal health

information to be exchanged and sold -- without patients' consent --

for research and public-health purposes.

The bill also mandates the plan for each American to have a single electronic health record by 2014, without opt-out or patient consent provisions. Research sometimes meaning some college pulling

certain persons in for research (so now people have animal status),

or the risk of using medical records that are not accurate. It's like: How are you doing

Hitler? Has the medical portion of the prison reopened?" Yikes!

Update:

Considering hackers, and the fact that

sometimes Doctors could list, without your consent as of this bill, anyone in their care for study, without their permission. Some of you have been

pre-conditioned with the medical programing shown on Dr.Phil, and Oprah, as to this being a good idea! As to this being cheaper, free labor is always cheaper, and a group of people to use listed in the millions would be fair game for unorthodox medical practices!

    Scares me to death.

Those that can't read into the big picture and realize what this really is for will be in for a big shock.

My medical records belong to me. The government has no business gaining access to them.

Research does not include "some college pulling certain persons in for research". Medical record, without names of patients are currently open for research studies. A single electronic record would be preferable to many such records at many different places with conflicting information. It would also be a heck of a lot cheaper.

If a person has a single electronic health record, then it will be accessable even from abroad, if you are one who travels. This may make medical mistakes with health records a little less frequient. Hospitals and doctors are in favour of this.

I think you are over examining this section, in and of itself it is a concern however, if you continue to read there are stipulations as to who (specifically) can receive the information.
