Why is my 3 y.o. chewing on his shirt?

Question

My 3 y.o. has recently started a habit of chewing on his shirts - while he is wearing them. He pulls the neck up to his mouth and sucks. It is nasty. His shirts are soaked all day. And I have to change his sheets every day because he sucks on his pillowcase at night. He doesn't seem to chew on anything else, nor do I notice him doing it at any particular time.  It isn't really when he's nervous or hungry, or anything like that.  I do keep trying to make him stop, but he is just not getting it. Has anyone had this happen? Any ideas how to stop it. He was never a paci baby, and neither is his little sister so it isn't that. Thanks.

My son is 5 and he drives me crazy when he chews on his shirt! LOL  He doesn't do it often, but when he does, I tell him to stop, and he goes right back to dong it 2 minutes later. I think that as long as you are consistant with your son, he will stop. I think it's just a bad habit type of thing, and eventually after you consistantly asking him to stop, he will just forget about it.

I used to do the same when I was a kiddddd!

:] I know That one of the reasons I did so was because the Laundry Detergent scent/taste tasted very Yummy!

Try giving him either a stuffed animal/ blanky you will allow him to chew on or maybe a cold chewy from a baby store :P

My cousin did that too but he was older..maybe like 5-6 when he did it and he would almost literally EAT his shirt...his shirts were all torn where he put them in his mouth is was so gross...and apparently my aunt told me that he pretty much has pieces of clothes in his crap because he would actually eat it lol i dunno what possessed him to do it and i dont know how he stopped either...or if he even stopped i think he did thought, it might just be a phase

LYKE OMG! hahaha. Okayz properly i replace into jogging down the line and this ferocious pit bull have been given here and tried to get me... so like i placed on my ipod and started listening to the track in call for extremely final words and shizz, so then.. i began out out making a music it to the canines and it exploded... How depressing huh? i didnt think of of there track replace into THAT undesirable..... hahaahhahah i think of so. :D

he's probably teething and uses his shirt to chew and relieve the pain.  my nephew chews on his blanket, but i think he's just plain silly.

its a Comfort thin my daughter was breastfeed and now She rubs her chest other kids play with hair or rub arms ETC it is ok nothing to worry about

I dunno how to stop it but i think its normal. My son will do that once in a while and he is also 3.
