2 year old's teeth loose after fall?

My daughter fell 6 days ago hurting her lips and gums. The teeth seemed ok and after talking to her pediatrician I was assured that the swelling will subside quickly and the gums will be fine. I checked them everyday, and even though I couldn't tell if they were loose or not I decided to take her to a dentist. He said that it is very common and the teeth, if cared for properly, usually become firm again in a week or so.

Does anyone have a similar experience? What was the outcome? A bit calmer today I took a better look and saw that they are indeed loose. It scared me! She is too young to lose her front teeth.

My son fell hard while running through the kitchen when he was two. He hit his mouth on the kitchen chair and was bleeding slightly from his gums. I was so scared and I felt awful! His teeth weren't loose, but I noticed that over the next couple days they were turning grey! I made an appointment with his dentist right away and took him in. The dentist said the discoloring was do to the trauma of hitting his mouth, and depending on the severity, they may get worse, or could go back to the natural color. He reassured me that it happens all the time, (which did not make me feel any better..) Anyway, after a few weeks they ended up turning white again and he is fine now, so don't worry about your daughter! I'm sure if the dentist thought it was a serious problem he would have told you! Just be patient and she'll heal up all on her own like the dentist said ;) Best wishes

My 19month old son fell off a chair with a bottle hanging out of his mouth face first and when I quickly picked him up blood was gushing out of his mouth. When I was able to take a look it was up under his top lip in the gums that had been cut open badly! Im not sure wether or not he hit his teeth or any other parts that can be affected but Im keeping an eye on it.This happend only about two days ago though.

I read that if a childs tooth does fall out to put it in a small sealed container with a bit of the childs saliva or milk and get to a dentist asap. They can usually save the tooth and put it back in somehow.

I wouldnt worry too much though since its not the permanent teeth but I would get a second opinion if you are still concernd since even a slight bump or movement of a tooth can affect how the permanent teeth will come in.

WOW! well it seems that happens alot...my now 4 years old fell like a year ago from a stand at walmart,it was like 4foots high and fell head first,he bleed a little bit,I was so scared and mad, like a month after his teeth start getting gray,a month after I was so scared, but turn out to b nothing I took him to the dentist she said he will be fine.

My mom is a dentist and she was here when it happens, she was frighten because she sees these things all the time, she told me that the most that could happen is that he could lose those teeth, but that not to worry since they're baby teeth still.I didn't like at all what she said, but there was nothing that I could've done.

Hopefully ur daughter wont lose her front teeth, but if she does, they'll grow back, well not immediately, but when she turns5-6. I know I know this is not the look u want for ur daughter,I wouldn't like it either, but at least it happen now.....

Good luck! I hope every thing turn out good for you and ur daughter!!!

    Best wishes!!

The worse case scenario is that she may end up losing he front teeth. The dentist will tell you that you'll have to wait for her second set to grow in as there's no point in having anything replaced at that age. For now, just try to give her semi-soft foods to keep the teeth from moving as much as possible as she eats. All you can do is give everything time to heal.

yes I have four girls (well all together 6 children) but they were all extremely energetic at that age. My daughter fell and her teeth were so loose they could have easily been pulled out. I just gave her milk regularly and they tightened right back up after awhile. It may take a little time but they will get tight again just be patient and try to avoid her from playing in her mouth. Everything will be just fine!

A nephew's friend pushed him and he ended up losing a front tooth at age 3. the tooth came out and my sis took him to the doctor. The doctor said that she will have to wait for the next set of teeth to come in. He is 6 now and the tooth still did not come in. If it does not come in this year, he will have to get it pulled to come out. Try your hardest to make sure ther tooth does not come out.

yes it does take time but they will go hard again. avoid giving her anything hard to eat. specially apples. give her milk more often...
