How can I estimate stroke volume?

I'm doing a poster project for Honors Anatomy class, and I'll get 10 points extra credit (which I need) if I can figure out how to estimate my stroke volume after an activity that increases my heart rate. I know that the average stroke volume at while I am at rest is 80 mL. So how can I estimate it after my heart rate has been increased?

    Stroke volume is determined (roughly) by blood pressure, not by heart rate. Minute volume is affected by heart rate because it is the stroke volume times heart rate. I rough way to estimate stroke volume is 1.75 * the pulse pressure. The pulse pressure is determined by the blood pressure. It is the systolic minus the diastolic. The typical blood pressure 120/80 yields a pulse pressure of 40 (120-80=40). 1.75 * 40 = 70. For this blood pressure, you could estimate stroke volume to be 70ml per beat. The minute volume for this person, if the heart rate was 80 is 5600ml (70m; * 80 = 5600).

    In short: (systolic - diastolic) * 1.75 = stroke volume estimate

    Stroke Volume Calculation

  • 1 decade ago

    You can try and manipulate this equation:

    CO = HR x SV

    CO= cardiac output

    HR= heart rate

    SV= stroke volume

    - an increase in HR=increase in CO

    - an increase in SV=increase in CO

    So if you know or can determine one of the other perimeters, you should be able to calculate the SV.

    Also, SV will increase if any of the following occur:

    there is an increase in systemic vascular resistance

    preload increases

    afterload decreases

    contractility increases

    3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

    a 406 is not more than a four hundred bored .030 over why do not you construct a 421 you probably have a well block....uncover a well computer store seeing that the 421 will must be balanced however they make excellent energy and are quite safe....my friend has one in his drag vehicle, it'll take a seat and idle at 900 rpm and makes round six hundred horsepower however has to run on one hundred ten gas
