Why do people ask questions about obviously urgent medical conditions?
... when first of all, (I feel) they should be seen as soon as possible by a medic, and secondly, they may not get a qualified answer to their question on Yahoo! answers... If I was worried about something, I would go straight to my doctor or to Accident & Emergency.
Yo, I understand the situation in the USA is different from the UK - but there's no need to call me your "furry friend", just because I don't understand your situation on that side of the atlantic. The questions don't state where they originate from and I am asking the question based on what questions are asked and how I feel about them. It does concern me that people are seeking advice from people who are not qualified to answer the question. It concerns m even more that people in the USA need to find answers on Yahoo! to ensure their health. I accept your point. My question obviously does not apply to the USA, from what you say.

You dont always realise its an urgent condition. I went to my gp who sent me to hospital who after four hours told me I had slight chest congestion and was in effect wasting their time.
Two days later an emergency doctor told me over the phone I had pluerisy.
In actual fact I had blood clots in my lungs and 24 hours after that phone call I was back in hospital fighting for my life. They still dont know how I survived.
But my point is, I had no idea how serious it was, I was struggling to breath and had a lot of pain but that was it, I had no idea that I was dying.

there's a little group (about 48 million members) called "the uninsured" maybe you heard of them? and they cannot afford to go to a hospital, so they have to resort to snake poison or prayer (which is the same thing) Because health care is just so damn expensive these days. and that, my furry friend is the reason why so many people come to this humble website, i think yahoo should start "Yahoo-Health" where shamans and nerds from all corners of the Earth can give diagnostics and cures that cost less than $10. So that mankind can once and for all get rid of all the minor aches and bruises and save a buck or two at the same time,

considering's a considerable soreness in the *** to be triaged by way of maximum considerable city ER's. i'm particularly smart approximately my scientific wellbeing, yet i've got ultimately discovered 2 issues approximately chest soreness (i've got had a heart attack). If nitro makes the chest soreness severely WORSE, that's reflux If that's under a 4 on the a million-10 soreness scale, assume to be on the wellbeing center for no less than 40 8 hours without eating in the CDU (can not settle on unit), bear lectures from a minimum of four diverse medical doctors who can not comprehend that high quality of life is extra suitable than quantity of life, spend the subsequent six months arguing with the insurance business enterprise, and the subsequent 2 weeks cleansing up the mess at artwork which you not being there led to. (be conscious: this is *not* expert suggestion - this is *MY* OPINION basically)

I have no idea, It makes no sense at all to assume that Y/A can do the job of a doctor or hospital, I think it's born from some kind of fear of illness or fear of doctors. I must admit that Accident and Emergency centrer are not...
Have to go the anaesthetist has just walked in.

I have asked medical questions in the past, (nothing urgent of course) but just to see if other people share my thoughts on the matter, or to help me decide whether my presumption is educated, ie if 19 out of 20 people agree with me then the likelihood is that I am right!

Because most have been misdiagnosed by their doctors and are in distress and are desperate for some help. There are some people playing games who are not seriously ill but most are suffering

it's true. i think it's probably because they feel scared to go to the doctor who will confirm they have a problem. instead they want reassurance that it doesn't exist which often isn't the case. sometime's people find it hard to confront away from their probs i guess
