When I blow my nose why does mucous come out of my eye?

When I blow my nose sometimes mucous comes out of the inner corner of my eye and if I blow it really hard then I feel my eye lift slightly like there is air behind it, is this normal? Can it cause me any problems in the future?

Ive had the same, it scared me at first and has only happened a couple of times, but my brother is a doctor and said thats because there is a connection between the nose and tear ducts like the other answer explained. Its not nice is it!

It sounds as if youve got some pressure built up behind the eyeball, that could get serious. See a doctor if I was you.

Basically because your tear duct drains into your nose.
