You can't find out who recommended you. There are actually very few real recommendations, as contestants are able to recommend someone for the following year's contest. But they more than likely got your name from a mailing list.

My sister was actually in the pageant, and we also had a lot of questions about how they got her information. They refused to tell us anything. They also addressed her letters using her nickname. I know you don't want to hear this, but this pageant is more or less a scam. It's a business for making money. It costs a lot to be in the pageant itself. They ask you to solicit money in the form of sponsorships, and this is on top of the entry fees. They crown two winners, one for winning the actual pageant and a second who brought in the most money. If you are looking to get into a pageant look for your local one that is a precursor to the Miss America pageant. These are really the most legitimate ones out there.

I got that too, just today, and I have no idea who could have recommended me. I really can not think of anyone.

It is best to find out what is required too. It is odd. But it would be interesting to find out where they got your name. do it carefully of course.
