What is Senator DeMint actually proposing?

According to CNN.com, Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina spoke at CPAC on Friday and railed against Obama's socialist agenda. While this may seem unsurprising to those familiar with the Senator's views, this next part is a bit stranger.

"DeMint, a fierce opponent of government expansion, told the CPAC crowd that conservatives might have to 'take to the streets to stop America’s slide into socialism.'

What exactly does the good Senator propose? Is he suggesting peaceful demonstrations, or something more inflammatory?

Am I the only person getting visions of the Brownshirts in Munich?

Update:

I didn't deliberately misquote anything. I began my question by saying "according to CNN.com", and then pasted their quotation of DeMint. Fine. Once you get past two minutes of trying to emulate Ronald Reagan, you can see the real quote on Matt's link.

The tone of DeMint's rhetoric, and my question, remain unchanged.

Update 2:

Just because the Nazis called themselves socialists doesn't mean they were. And throwing out another tired, ignorant Obama/Hitler comparison didn't help your cause. Because you actually answered my question, Libertarian Anarchist, you had the ten, until your offensive and wholly idiotic Brownshirt comments.

So...

People nowadays are feeling increasingly free to say things that are advocating violence against the government. Under the Bush administration, they'd all have been locked up immediately. Freedom of speech does not include incitement to armed insurrection or violence against individuals in the government.

But besides that, he is betraying how out of touch with the electorate he is. He thinks that people like him are the vast majority and the current administration is out of touch, while in fact the opposite is true. Right wing rallies of late have been pathetically underattended. ∠°)

regulations are methods while they want them to be, and regulations while they want them to be, and methods are regulations while they want them to be, and methods while they want them to be? they actually think of they're putting one over do not they? a suitable occasion of political doublespeak. rules that overlap & spin in a vortex of alternative rules, and finally end up being simperingly time soft and for my area subjective of their distinctive interpretations. AKA, Nener Nener Nener A infantile hoax below the guise of ideal technique. "The White eyes are Chiefed by making use of the double tongues". Why not call it what that's ... an unlawful, Un Constitutional ... DECREE. in no way Feudalistic or Totalitarian or Tyrannical now's it? those words shall now & continuously get replaced by making use of "lovable & Fuzzy", yet will propose the comparable component. I am sure that he was referring to a grass roots movement against socialism. As for brownshirts, I worry more about the tunnel visioned Obama crowd. The Nazis were after all, socialists that nationalized industries and were lead by a mesmerizing speaker. Stronger parallel to Obama, but I expect a violent reaction from all you Obama moonies. Which probably confirms my point even more.

you misquoted him. I just watched it on youtube. He said, "Millions are even ready to take to the streets to stop socialism". He is stating what he is seeing, he did not encourage anyone to take to the streets. Either you deliberately misquoted him, or you need to stop watching whatever news source you get your information from.

Edit: OK, I apologise. I just went and watched his quote and was thinking why is this guy trying to twist Demints words. I didn't reread your question, and I assumed you were being dishonest. I guess we can see how the liberal media operates to try to smear people they disagree with.

I often ask gay activists the same sort of question that you are asking of Senator DeMint. Many people are all bark and no bite, though.

Good god...DeMint is a nutjob. He frequently says outrageous things....as one of his constituents, I would hope he is just being over the top like always, but there is really no telling with him.

Well given the fact that Republicans own most of the guns in the US it's hard to tell what he means.

i doubt he is suggesting planting bombs in the pentagon, or judges' homes, or police stations.
