  • Tom Coburn is questioning Sotomayor now. Is it time for your bathroom break?

If you're watching the Senate confirmation hearings, are you using this time to eat, go potty, catch up on your phone calls, etc...? Or do you take joy in watching the Judiciary Committee's most combative, ignorant, unqualified hack?

  • How much longer does Michael Steele have?

Just when I thought the RNC chairman couldn't leave orbit any further, I see this today:

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2009/05/22/st...

Yeah. That's right. Michael Steele just accused the President of skirting the vetting process because he's black. Michael Steele. Said this. I'm not even going to comment further on that point.

My question remains: Now that he's taken shots at Rush Limbaugh, many high-ranking members of his own party, and the President (for being black), How many friends does this guy have left in Washington? Does anyone in any party benefit from Michael Steele's continued tenure?

  • What is Senator DeMint actually proposing?

According to CNN.com, Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina spoke at CPAC on Friday and railed against Obama's socialist agenda. While this may seem unsurprising to those familiar with the Senator's views, this next part is a bit stranger.

"DeMint, a fierce opponent of government expansion, told the CPAC crowd that conservatives might have to 'take to the streets to stop America’s slide into socialism.'

What exactly does the good Senator propose? Is he suggesting peaceful demonstrations, or something more inflammatory?

  • Help me win the CHAMPIONSHIP, Please?

Well, I made it to the big one, but my team is pretty banged up, and lost its last 3 regular season matchups. Please advise me on some key starts:

QB- Warner @ NE, David Garrard v. IND, or do I pick up Shaun Hill @STL? Warner's cooled off, and may face a must-win D in very bad weather.

RB- Pierre Thomas is starting. For the other spot, it's between Brandon Jacobs v. CAR, Jonathan Stewart @ NYG, Joseph Addai @ JAX, or Maurice Morris v. the Jets. Addai is probable but shaky looking. I have no idea about Jacobs' knee at this point.

WR. Reggie Wayne and Steve Smith start. Last spot is between Kevin Walter @ Oakland, or Houshmandzadeh @ CLE. Every time I pick between these two, the one I bench has a monster day. I feel like the Raiders will sic Asomugha on Andre Johnson and leave Walter open for a big game. Thoughts?

    Thanks for your help.

  • Do you live an a "pro-America" area?

was a little surprised to see Sarah Palin attributed to saying this on Cnn.com.

'The view isn’t all glum from the trail. “We even saw today, thank the Lord, we saw some movement,” looking upwards and making a fist. Another bright note for her, she said later, was visiting “pro-America” areas of the country.'

I was under the assumption that all Americans everywhere are "pro-America". Am I wrong? Do they hate our country in your hometown?

And where exactly does Governor Palin consider to be "Anti-America" within our country?

  • What to do about the WR position?

I'm 2-0, but probably the weakest of the three undefeated teams in my 12-team league. I'm solid in most places, but my receiving corps worries me, and the Bengals' woes and Galloway's recent ankle injury are making me even more nervous. My team:

QB-Kurt Warner, Philip Rivers (start 1)

RB- Willie Parker, Brandon Jacobs, Chris Johnson, Jonathan Stewart (start 2)

WR- Reggie Wayne, TJ Houshmandzadeh, David Patten, Joey Galloway (start 3)

TE- John Carlson, Owen Daniels (start 1)

    K- Josh Scobee DEF- Giants/Eagles

The way I see it, I have three options to pursue over the next couple of weeks, or until the bye weeks come and free up more spots for me:

    1. Stand pat, hope Housh and the Bungles come around, wait for Galloway to heal, and go with Patten as my third WR for a spell.

    2. Dump Galloway now for a FA, best of whom are probably Justin Gage, Sidney Rice, or Chansi Stuckey. Not much.

    3. Try to trade Chris Johnson (or maybe Jacobs), since I'm pretty deep at RB, for a top-25 wideout. There's one guy in my league, for example, who has Welker, Hines Ward, and Eddie Royal starting at WR, with three more on his bench. (CJ for Royal, is this a good deal?)

What do you think? Which of the three choices would you make? Thanks!

  • Which TE would you pick up?

I'm dumping Justin Fargas now. My only Tight End is John Carlson, and his bye is week 4, so I need another one before anything else. The only question I have is, who?

FA Tight Ends: Todd Heap, Owen Daniels, Greg Olsen (because I just dumped him and his two fumbles), Desmond Clark, Bo Scaife, Robert Royal, Kevin Boss, Mercedes Lewis, Ben Utecht, Dustin Keller, John Gilmore, Casey Fitzsimmons.

    Thanks.

  • Please help: Trade, waiver pickup, or stand pat?

I'm 2-0. I drafted Brady in the 1st, and recovered by trading Kellen Winslow for Philip Rivers as insurance for Kurt Warner. I think my team is decent, but right now I have two potential injuries, and my receiving corps could use some shoring up. This is me.

    QB Kurt Warner, Philip Rivers

RB Brandon Jacobs, Willie Parker, Chris Johnson, Jonathan Stewart, Justin Fargas

WR TJ Houshmandzadeh, Reggie Wayne, Joey Galloway, David Patten

    TE John Carlson

    K Josh Scobee

    DEF- NY Giants, Philadelphia

I'm thinking of dumping Justin Fargas, who suffered a groin pull and is 5th on my depth chart anyway, for a WR on the wire. Galloway is hurt also, but I don't think I want to drop him, at least not yet. Available WRs include J. Gage, S. Rice, Mark Clayton, Muhsin Muhammad.

Should I do this, or go for a TE (FAs include Heap, Owen Daniels, Robert Royal, Randy McMichael and both Bears)? OR, trade Chris Johnson to a guy who has weak RBs(Norwood, Sproles, Hightower, and Jamal Lewis) and Wes Welker, Eddie Royal and Hines Ward?

  • Who sits at RB this week?

I have Willie Parker, Brandon Jacobs, Chris Johnson, and Jonathan Stewart. Parker and Jacobs have been starting so far, and they've been great, but Johnson has donated 29 points to my bench and it's time to play him, I think.

Parker visits Philadelphia. Jacobs hosts the Bungles. Johnson hosts the Texans. Stewart visit the Vikings, and I'm thinking no here.

My hunch is to sit Willie in favor of Johnson, thinking Jacobs still rolls for 100 over the Bungles. What do you think?

  • Please help. I need a tight end. Who would you pick up?

I am a Brady-drafter who just traded Kellen Winslow to get Philip Rivers. I'm fine with that, but the move leaves me with Todd Heap as my only TE, and he is a heap of questions. He caught one pass for 5 yards last week, and fumbled it. His back is flaring up, he's listed as probable, and while he'll start, he likely won't be a big factor this week, and maybe not beyond. So-

Should I stick with Heap, dump him for a free agent, or keep Heap but dump one of my bench RBs for a safety-valve, second TE?

My RBs are Brandon Jacobs and Willie Parker, with Justin Fargas, Chris Johnson, and Jonathan Stewart on the bench.

The following TEs are available on the wire: Bo Scaife, Robert Royal, Randy McMichael, Desmond Clark, Greg Olsen, Kevin Boss, Mercedes Lewis, and Ben Utecht, amongst other dregs.

    Thanks for your input.

  • Is Miguel Cabrera the youngest player ever to reach 1000 hits?

I know he just got there Sunday, and that he turned 25 in April. I know that Ichiro, Albert, and Todd Helton all got to 1000 in fewer at-bats than Cabrera, but I'm asking strictly about age. Is Miggy the youngest in the club?

Links, if you got 'em, would be fun. Thanks.

  • Please help the first-timer with an RB question?

I've never done fantasy football before, and I biffed it in the draft, at least with regard to running backs. it's a 12-team standard head to head. I have

    QB Tom Brady, Kurt Warner

RB Brandon Jacobs, Willie Parker, Justin Fargas, Jonathan Stewart

WR Reggie Wayne, TJ Houshmanzahdeh, Joey Galloway, Justin Gage, David Patten

    TE Kellen Winslow

    DEF Giants. Eagles

    K Josh Scobee

I think it's a decent team, but the RBs worry me. SO:

should I stand pat? Should I trade a big WR or even Brady for a top back? Or should I look to the waiver wire? People like Ahman Green, Ray Rice, Chris Johnson and Chris Perry are still out there. Thanks for any advice.
