Do you live an a "pro-America" area?

was a little surprised to see Sarah Palin attributed to saying this on Cnn.com.

'The view isn’t all glum from the trail. “We even saw today, thank the Lord, we saw some movement,” looking upwards and making a fist. Another bright note for her, she said later, was visiting “pro-America” areas of the country.'

I was under the assumption that all Americans everywhere are "pro-America". Am I wrong? Do they hate our country in your hometown?

And where exactly does Governor Palin consider to be "Anti-America" within our country?

Update:

I mean, "Do you live IN a 'pro-America' area?".

Update 2:

Some of you seem confused. I was born in the U.S.A. I've lived here my whole life, and I consider myself lucky and proud to be an American. Can I be still be anti-American and hate my mother country because I hold different beliefs than Sarah Palin and others with whom I disagree?

Is that really a sane and informed argument?

Update 3:

Sean-

How exactly do things like Sherriff Buckshot and hating black people make where you live more pro-American than somewhere else?

It's strange, because if you live somewhere where they really hate the federal government (to the point of even having an independence movement, like Alaska) you are considered pro-American. And then there's those damn New York liberals. We all know how anti-American they have become since 9/11. Isn't it ironic that the terrorists only target "anti-American" areas like Washington DC and New York?

I live in Berkeley, which means that I and all of my neighbors are probably America hating terrorists in the eyes of Palin. There are people here who are very anti-war, which is I guess is also anti-American since the essence of America must be its pseudo imperialistic wars in Iraq, Vietnam, and support for right-wing dictatorships and death squads during the Cold War.

Well, I definitely don't live in an ANTI-American area. I think the people the "others" view as anti-americans are just any one who is pissed off at the way things are going and say so, or are people who feel like their opinions don't matter and say so, people who have been left behind and can't get ahead...which in my opinion is the majority of people. I don't believe there are anti-american communities in america, only communities that are perhaps more brash with their opinions, and when people look at the bad things america has done and when they want those things to stop and to change those people seem to be viewed as anti-american, when in reality those are the people who truely care about america! If youre so-called patriotic yet don't care about your neighbor, who may or may not be on welfare due to job loss and they're losing their homes, youre anti-american!

  • Actually, you'd be surprised by how much of the country is "Anti-America". Have you not seen how many people call this country "evil" or "misguided" or "needs change". There are people that actually say that our Constitution is "failed" or "out dated".

She's very much right. There are places where citizens of this country seem to think that being "American" is something to be ashamed of. She, and I, consider any place where there are significant amounts of people that will argue that America is a "bad place" is an "anti-America" area. Just look at Hollywood?

Some people in the country do hate America believe it or not and discontent for the country is tolerated in some areas better than others. Some areas are much more patriotic than others. It's pretty obvious, has been that way for decades. So, what's your point?

I just saw on the news where the rnc is calling people and the message says you need to know that Barack Obama has worked closely with domestic terrorists.

I hope the republicans lose big time. I'm sick of them calling me anti-American and acting like they are better than everyone else. These people aren't patriots, they are hate mongers.

Palin KNEW that she was running the risk of having a retarded child--she's 44 and children with down's syndrome are usually born to moms and dads who are a tad bit too old. As a mother, I have to question her judgement, because her judgement was solely based on how SHE felt, what SHE believed in. It was not based on what quality of life her child will have, it was not based on how her child will survive once she cannot take care of it---all that was irrelevant to her. When I grew up we had a neighbor who had a cson with down's syndrome--back then there was no birth control, so it did happen a lot more than nowadays. I can recall how we ridiculed that poor boy and his brother who was a normal kid. We didn't have any mercy, even though our parents often tried to tell us that it was not the boy's fault. You know, the boy was retarded, but he still had feelings---I saw him cry plenty of times, and I saw his brother cry--. So Palin's decision to have a child with down's syndrome makes me really wonder what kind of person she is---because it is SELFISH of her to think only about her belief and not about what this child will have to endure in life.

As far as Pro-American goes: that is Palin's definition, and her definition is probably that only republicans are pro-American. I live in a swing state and I cannot care less about her. She was standing there at a rally accusing Obama of being a domnestic terrorist. Even if I am a die hard republican do I not appreciate what she did there, because there were people chanting "kill him". I find it so outrageous what this woman does, I do not want to see her in office ever....

I'm guessing since I live in a Blue state that I'm not in a Pro-America area... but wait... we have a Republican Governor so hmmm, maybe I do? Man, I'm confused. Does she have a map or list or something we could refer to?

Great job reaching across the aisle to bring Americans together, Mrs. Palin!

Yes, I live in an area where one candidate for sheriff is nicknamed "Buckshot" and it's on his campaign posters. It's a rural area with very few black people and the churches are 100% segregated. People still hate yankees and blacks but they call them something much worse.

I live in a Pro-America area that is strongly pro Obama, also. I don't know of any Anti-America areas within the United States, except for some small radical groups perhaps.
