Vista has a zip file opener/creator integrated in the operator system. Make sure that the file you are trying to open is .zip and not .rar, in which case you will need to download winrar.

If the file is a zip, you should be able to double click the file and see/unpack its contents.
Hope this helps

WinZip is built into Windows XP. I can't see any reason why it's not in Vista too.
Failing that. WinRar (http://www.rarlab.com)/ is a good (and free) program to open ZIP files.

ZIP handling is built into Vista, but it's crappy. I use the free "7-Zip." See my article for instructions and details:

WinZip.

The trial never expires, it just doesn't have the unnecessary "extras". Use it to unzip. free of charge.

Use Izarc. It's free.
