do long hair cats or short hair cats shed less?

I am looking for a cat for my family. I would prefer one that does not shed a lot. Little shedding is good, a lot is bad. So do long hair cats or short hair cats shed less?

Short-haired cats shed short hair; long haired ones shed long hair. Long haired cats have more problems with hairballs and need more grooming. If shedding is a concern, you'd probably prefer a short haired cat. But they all shed.

    Do Long Haired Cats Shed

All cats will shed; some shed seasonally (at the end of summer and the end of winter) and some shed all year around.

To give you an example I have two cats, a Ragdoll and a Burmese. The Burmese is a shorthair and she sheds all year around. The Ragdoll is a semi-longhair and he only sheds seasonally.

It really does depend on the amount of grooming you do as well as the type of cat. Generally if you stroke a cat and more than just one or two strands of fur comes off in your hand it's likely to shed quite a bit.

    Well

Millions of people all over the world are affected by hair loss, and it's not only the males that suffer this condition as even females are affected by this problem. What's sad is that many of the individuals affected by such a condition end up just accepting what is happening to their hair due to lack of information or options.

I think they shed exactly the same, it's just that the long hair is so much more, and is more noticeable. White cat hair shows up the most. Darker colors are harder to see on your clothes.

Depends on the cat. I have shorthairs and it varies a lot in shedding. Usually the ones with a short tight close-laying coat shed less then the thicker ones.

One of my shorthairs sheds much more than any of my longhairs. A good diet and regular grooming can be very helpful in controlling excessive shedding.

For me, short. a person see, hair like jared leto's appear too effortless and sometimes even slimy. Shortcuts are more fun to enjoy with and some sttles look much better on them.

I have pretty long hair, I like them but I actually think I would have them reduce short in about some two yrs

It really depends on the breed. I suggest you do some research on a few breeds you are interested in. I'm sure they will give some info on shedding.
