My coffee tastes horrible! Help please!!?

My coffee maker just a few days ago started brewing coffee I can't even swallow its so bad. I thought maybe it was the coffee or creamer (I changed those) but nothing changed. I used a coffee cleaner and cleaned it, still it tastes the same.

The taste is almost a bitter taste. The water I use is tap water and it takes fine alone.

What should I do? I really enjoy my cup of coffee in the morning:(

never wash your coffee pot with anything other than water. use water then rub with napkin and rinse again and dry with clean cloth. As far as yuck taste. up underneath where you don't want to search is two places (which can get) really nasty coagulation's of greasy oily coffee residue build up where the hot water comes out and drops into the roasted granules in the filter and the other is where the coffee drips out of and into the pot. Both locations can get stinky and ruin the coffee I try to never ruin the "brewer" by using anything other than water but it has to be hot to get that oily mess off. I make the best coffee by mixing different beans and Marshall's, Ross and T J Max has gourmet at over 50% off store prices. Always use cold water to make your coffee it has to do with the percolated temperature being set to brew the coffee (at the best temperature to allow the best flavor out of the coffee) without making it harsh. maybe your coffee maker is not so good I use a black and decker cafe noir and it's the best brewer I have ever had and the carafe doesn't spill while pouring (why I hate mr coffee's)

we had the same problem. WE bought several coffee makers and it didn't help the problem. WE bought different brands of both milk and coffee. Our water is hard, so we started filtering it. That improved it somewhat.

Likewise, we cleaned the coffeemaker inside and out. Changed filter brands. Everything!

We ended up buying our coffee beans whole, grinding them minutes before we use them (make sure your grinder is new and/or clean.) And we have gone to a cheap french press from ikea. You put the grounds in the bottom, pour over water you've boiled on the stove (as you would for tea) and let is steep a bit. Then you press the plunger down on top of the grounds and you can pour off your fresh coffee.

It has been the only solution we have found.

Good luck! I know how frustrating it can be.

Oh my GAWDS! I would just DIE if that happened to me! I drink coffee all day right up to bedtime, every day. Anyone else would slip into a caffeine induced coma if they drank as much coffee as I do. I'm soooo sorry this is happening to you. But on to the problem...

I'd run some vinegar water through your coffee maker a few times, then just plain water and see if that helps. Also, if you changed out your coffee, did you try another batch from the same brand or a different brand altogether? In other words, was the coffee you switched to sitting in your pantry or did you hit the market and just buy a new one? The oils in coffee can go rancid just like any other oil. You may also try using a Brita water pitcher to filter your water - tastes better that way anyway.

Of course there's also the possibility that the heating element in your coffee maker is going out/burning out, in which case you can just pick up a new coffee maker pretty cheap at the MaoMart or KMart or even the Rite Aid or whatever is near you. Also, Gevalia always has that trial offer going on for a "free" coffee maker and two pounds of their gourmet coffee for something like $14.95. Just make sure you cancel your subscription to their service after you receive your swag as they're kind of spendy. Unless you like it enough to pay for it monthly, of course.

Good luck and I hope you get this resolved soon! If not - well, there are a lot of really nifty independent coffee shops in my area with free wi-fi access and I'd bet you've got one or two in your area as well to hang out in while you wait for your new coffee maker to arrive from Gevalia. (Tho I'd freak and buy one at the local department store so I could get to my coffee more quickly.)

I have tried using coffeepot cleaners, but I like vinegar better. I just fill the pot (or water holder if you use an automatic drip machine) halfway with white vinegar and let it sit for an hour. Then I add the same amount of cold water to the vinegar and set the brewing cycle. After that brewing cycle, I do two more brewing cycles with plain cold water. This seems to clean out both lime buildup from tap water, plus the bitter taste of too many pots of coffee.

In case you didn't already, always start with cold water when brewing coffee. That probably seems obvious to you, but sometimes people don't know it.

Check the coffee maker with the shop keeper and find out more form him. And see what's the problem. Or the best you can make your own coffee by using hands.
