Thinking about becoming an egg donor - things to consider?

I recently saw an article about egg donation, and the monetary aspect of it is appealing to me.

What are some things I should take into consideration before making a decision?

Things I've thought of:

-The possibility of child X showing up wondering about bio-mom.

-Side effects of the medications they give to stimulate egg production.

-Fiance's part in the decision.

I've considered surrogacy before, but I'm not too keen on putting myself through the whole pregnancy and birthing experience for the first time, and it not being for my own child. Maybe after I've had kids. But anyway, the idea isn't new to me in case that helps/makes a difference.

Update:

When you looked into egg donation they told you that? Hmm... that's odd. I would understand why they might say that for surrogacy, but it doesn't make much sense to me for egg donation. I'll definitely have to look into it.

When I looked into it, the people I talked to told me that you had to have had a successful pregnancy before. You may want to look into that. I don't know if it's true at every egg donation facility, but it's something to think about.

    EDIT:

Yeah, when I talked to them, they said that since you got so much monetary compensation, they weren't willing to pay if the eggs weren't even going to be useful. This was at Duke Univ.
