My wife thinks we can have a black baby?
My wife is white and I am mulatto (half black half white). The blacks in my family are all light skin and most of them look mixed. I am super light skinned and even whiter than some of my white friends unless I get a good tan.
My wife thinks that it is very possible for us to have a baby that comes out black. Maybe not Wesley Snipes dark but way darker than me.
What do you think?

Though she didn't know it at the time, movie star and America's perpetual virgin, Doris Day had a black great grandfather. When her first child turned out with African features, in the early 50s, it created a stir. Her husband was white. The child was put up for adoption.
To figure out the virgin part, you'll need to ask your grandfather.

Mulatto?? LOL I didn't know biracial people had been called mulatto since slavery.
But anyway, if you're light and your wife is white, there is no way to have a baby who's darker than you are. Black/Afro American is a race, not a skin color or physical description so yeah, the baby will be black but not dark or even brown skinned.

It could be that you or your wife have black ancestry but If you're wife loves you why does it matter if you have black in you? Unless she's racist. Also, you might want to consider if she's cheated on you or not. 'Cause even if you do have black ancestry it's not exactly common for that to happen.

Its called a throwback, if you have darker skinned ancestors it is possible to have a darker skinned baby, its like two dark haired people having a blonde haired child, it can miss a few generations and then pop up again unexpectedly.
hope that helps

If she would have black ancestors somewhere up the line, that would be a possibility. And yes your child could be darker than you.
Yet, I am not sure why she is really concerned about it.
I find that strange.

My question to you is this didn't she know you were a biracial man when you met, dated, and married? If you were ever going to have children there is a slight chance that you could have a dark skinned baby. If you are as light skinned as I am picturing the chance you 2 will have a dark skinned baby is very unlikely.

it is possible because of genetics, but I would think very unlikely. Regardless of the what skin the baby has you should still love it!
Don't worry =)
I wish you the best of luck

Who knows. It's a toss up. Random genes CAN show up, but it's likely your kid will look white. Why does it matter? Your baby is your baby nomatter what color it comes out! Lol!

Why does it matter? Anyways - the child can get as dark or light skinned as your genes will allow...

It's definately possible, high unlikely, but it is possible.
Maybe she wants a darker baby.
Still possible, but probably won't happen.
