Hint: Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Jose and San Diego all are adjacent to at least one.
It is not the Ocean. It is not mountains, volcanoes or harbors either.
This is try #3 and so far no one has gotten it right.
Fault lines might be correct, but that's actually not what I was going for. If nobody gets it right I'll give you best answer.

hmm.... i live in SF and have been to all these cities... thinking, thinking... hmmm... the fault lines, no wait someone already said that... i dont know.
