Is there a way to pipe music to the com port?

I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to send music over the com port?

Does anyone know if it is possible??

Either using XP or Ubuntu 8.04

Update:

What I'm trying to do is connect a speaker to the com port, so that I can actually play the music THROUGH the com port.

There is no real reason, I just want to see if I can do it :)

you didn't say what you want to send it to...another computer, some other device...what?

If it's just another computer, all you need is a null-modem serial cable...start up your terminal program on both computers and then do a file transfer of your music file using xmodem or something like that.

Why would you want to do that though, when there are much faster networking protocols and connections?

Source(s): take a look at this, you can get a usb-serial cable or adapters or even run networking over serial. http://www.serialgear.com/
