Since America has the most progressive tax system in the world, how much more should the "wealthy" pay?
Wealthy is very regional in this country.
We already have the record for people not paying any tax per capita, so everyone gets the benefits but only a few pay doesn't seem fair to me.

Using the latest available statistics from the IRS in 2006:
2% of all taxpayers pay 68% of all the taxes.
3.8 million taxpayers make above the 250k amount.
Those 3.8 million earn 1.3 trillion dollars.
Obama wants to raise their rate from 35% to 38%. That's just a show to appease the sheep, it will hardly make a difference, but large enough to piss off the wealthy so they will hide their money and stop investing in new companies, thus killing future jobs. Less money will ultimate flow into the IRS, as always has happened when taxes are raised.
Even if Obama raised their rate all the way up to 100%, in other words, starve them all and confiscate their entire income, it still is only 1/3 of his proposed budget.
The real tax will kick in when the greenhouse gas tax, "cap and trade" goes into affect. Even the Whitehouse admits this will double everyone's energy bills, and there is no income lower limit. Everyone who uses electricity or gas will pay. So unless your energy bill is less than $52 a month, the $13 you're going to start getting back soon tjos will not be a savings at all, but rather a big net loss for all families. All the $13 does is allow them to claim you will get a break (before they slam you with this other tax).

Tribeca,
You exhibit a typical liberal characteristic: it's not your ignorance that's the problem, it's your knowing so much that just isn't so. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) conducted a study of tax systems and found that, yes, the US does have the most progressive tax system in the world. And yet, you, in your infinite wisdom, are "sure" that's not true. Exactly what data have you examined to support your assertion that it is not the most progressive tax system in the world? Give me facts, not "feelings" or "instincts".

Where is your proof for the assertion that we have the most progressive tax system in the world? I'm sure that is not true.

Libs want the rich to pay so they can sit on the couch and watch tv while the "evil" rich people get what they deserve for going to college and spending years getting degree's.
