Hi, as a Nurse I totally agree with euthanasia clinics. You probably know yourself that part of a Nurses duties when it comes to palliative care is to facilitate a comfortable and as easy a death as possible. We get the families involved if that is possible, encourage them to say goodbye, administer medication to control pain but withdraw treatment and so on.
This is not that far removed from what we would be required to do in a 'euthanasia clinic'.
The difference is would be that we can facilitate a much more dignified end, and give the power back to the patients to choose how and when they want to die. They can choose the time of their death and get their affairs in order, say their goodbyes and spare themselves and thei families a prolonged and often nasty experience, with often a lot of pain and suffering on both sides.
I think however that we would have to be extremely careful about how we do this if it does come in. It should only be allowed under strict circumstances, ie. death should be certain within a certain ammount of time, etc. And by sticking to already existing legal and ethical frameworks about not allowing any family members to make any decisions, and excluding those with power of attorney to make it, we can ensure that it is a decision made by the patients themselves after being advised by medical staff.

Actually I think, under the circumstances, it's an extremely thought-provoking story. And what would be even sadder would be for this couple to have had to battle against the pain and obviously terrible end they were faced with, both of them.
Having had to make the terrible decision to end the lives of some of my hounds before their quality of life was non-existent, I truly wish this option was available in this country to we humans.. If we can end the suffering of our beloved pets, why should we not be able to do this for ourselves.
I can't think of a better way to go than to go together and to be able to stop relatives and loved ones having to watch, knowing there was nothing they could do!
I'd like to know how much this costs?

I agree with it. As was mentioned above, if we have the right to end the suffering of our beloved pets, we should have the same rights to be able to choose to end our own suffering. I also agree, as mentioned above, that VERY STRICT laws and regulations must be in place to prevent abuse of this choice.
For some reason Yahoo pulled that off their web. Here's are a couple of different links:

Definatly agree with it,if u want to die because of an illness, who are we to tell that person/s they cant die?.
Why go through hell, when u can end it all in a nyc peaceful environment with family by ur side.x

If I was terminally ill ,i would like to think I could have a choice in how I die.
I would like it to be a possible to have the option of one of these clinics, as it would be my choice.
Totally for euthanasia!

If a person is in the terminal stage of any disease, is suffering pain, and chooses to end it, I agree they should have the right.
I watched my brother die a horrible death from cancer, and all he wanted towards the end was for it to be over.
Yes the story is very sad.

I think its less sad than not being able to do it.

God give us that life,no one has right to take expect him!!Every suffering is a test in this life.and one day we will get reward for It
God willing!!
just for this worldly life we have to have tests for everthing...you cant get to college unless you pass your school exams, same goes from college to uni....How can anyone to expect to get heaven without passing any of God's test!!Suffering is TEST!!!

take care Hun!
P.s Im not taking about this couples in particular,God is merciful,he will forgive who he wills!!In General people commit suicide just because their girlfriends has left them!!
