why dvd player cannot play windows movie file?

    Because your dvd play can't play those type of dics.

    some dvd players will not play dvd's that are home made, they just don't support the codec. Suggest you use a codec like DivX, but if the dvd player doesn't play it that way, then it doesn't support alternative codec's or home made dvd's. You'll have to run it on your computer or get another dvd player.

    You could try this.

    Install Gomplayer, free media player, that can play any file types

    Goto preferences

    others

    select all

    File Types

    could need a codec, if you cant play it with WMP them you can always try VLC
