How did Mohammed know this 1430 years ago?

I have recently began looking into the Quran – that is after i have looked into the bible.

Mohammed was an illiterate man (cannot read or write/ uneducated) but yet it is assumed he wrote the Quran.

If this is true, then how did HE (someone who lived over 1430 years ago and was uneducated) know about the water cycle (a discovery made by us less than a hundred years ago by us)?

An Nur Chapter 24 v43

See you not that Allah drives the clouds gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap of layers, and you see the rain comes forth from between them. And He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains, (or there are in the heaven mountains of hail from where He sends down hail), and strike therewith whom He will, and averts it from whom He wills. The vivid flash of its (clouds) lightning nearly blinds the sight. [Tafsir At-Tabari].

Ar Rum Chapter30 V48

Allah is He Who sends the winds, so they raise clouds, and spread them along the sky as He wills, and then break them into fragments, until you see rain drops come forth from their midst! Then when He has made them fall on whom of His slaves as He will, lo! they rejoice!

Az Zumar Chapter39 v21

See you not, that Allah sends down water (rain) from the sky, and causes it to penetrate the earth, (and then makes it to spring up) as water-springs and afterward thereby produces crops of different colours, and afterward they wither and you see them turn yellow, then He makes them dry and broken pieces. Verily, in this, is a Reminder for men of understanding.

Al Mu’minun Chapter23 v18

And We sent down from the sky water (rain) in (due) measure, and We gave it lodging in the earth, and verily, We are Able to take it away.

Ar Rum Chapter30 v24

And among His Signs is that He shows you the lightning, by way of fear and hope, and He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and therewith revives the earth after its death. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who understand.

Al Hijr Chapter15 v22

And We send the winds fertilizing (to fill heavily the clouds with water), then caused the water (rain) to descend from the sky, and We gave it to you to drink, and it is not you who are the owners of its stores [i.e. to give water to whom you like or to withhold it from whom you like].

Al A’raf Chapter7 v57

And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain). Till when they have carried a heavy¬laden cloud, We drive it to a land that is dead, then We cause water (rain) to descend thereon. Then We produce every kind of fruit therewith. Similarly, We shall raise up the dead, so that you may remember or take heed.

Ar- Ra’d Chapter13 v 17

He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and the valleys flow according to their measure, but the flood bears away the foam that mounts up to the surface, and (also) from that (ore) which they heat in the fire in order to make ornaments or utensils, rises a foam like unto it, thus does Allah (by parables) show forth truth and falsehood . Then, as for the foam it passes away as scum upon the banks, while that which is for the good of mankind remains in the earth. Thus Allah sets forth parables (for the truth and falsehood, i.e. Belief and disbelief).

Al Furaqan Chapter25 v48-49

48 And it is He Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His Mercy (rain), and We send down pure water from the sky,

49 That We may give life thereby to a dead land, and We give to drink thereof many of the cattle and men that We had created.

Fatir Chapter35 v9

And it is Allah Who sends the winds, so that they raise up the clouds, and We drive them to a dead land, and revive therewith the earth after its death. As such (will be) the Resurrection!

Yasin Chapter36 v33-34

And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. And We have made therein gardens of date-palms and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein.

Al-Jathiyah Chapter45 v5

And in the alternation of night and day, and the provision (rain) that Allah sends down from the sky, and revives therewith the earth after its death, and in the turning about of the winds (i.e. sometimes towards the east or north, and sometimes towards the south or west etc., sometimes bringing glad tidings of rain etc., and sometimes bringing the torment), are signs for a people who understand.

Qaf Chapter50 v9

And We send down blessed water (rain) from the sky, then We produce therewith gardens and grain (every kind of harvests) that are reaped.

Al Waqi’ah Chapter56 v 69-70

69 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down?

70 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)?

Mulk chapter67 v30

Say (O Muhammad ): "Tell me! If (all) your water were to be sunk away, who then can su

The last reference was cut off

Mulk chapter67 v30

Say (O Muhammad ): "Tell me! If (all) your water were to be sunk away, who then can supply you with flowing (spring) water?"

Update 2:

you dont have to read the references - just explain how he knew what we learnt 1430 years later?

Update 3:

Its easy to know it now - the water cycle was not known 100 years ago

Since you have explored it yourself in Koran, it would be appropriate to tell you that it was NOT The Prophet who knew, in fact, it is the God !!!

And. Since God has created everything, then how would someone who has created a thing (this entire Universe & beyond) would not know simple facts about what is His creation?

Only a few years back mankind came to know about the waters of Mediterranean does not gets into Atlantic Ocean, whereas, God All-Wise, All-Knowing told us in Koran that it's so. Here is the Verse 20 of Chapter LV (The All-Merciful):

He lets forth two seas that meet together,

between them a barrier they do not overpass,

O which of your Lord's bounty will you and you deny?

Thanks for recognizing the facts in Koran. Every page you turn surprises you.

Observation, I'd say. Rain falls from clouds, that's not so hard to see. Plants grow with water, wither without it. Not very difficult. There is little mention of the process of evaporation in these texts, and it's role in cloud formation. So half the cycle seems to be missing.

I rather think these passages are a metaphor for His good grace than a scientific observation, though, so maybe the evaporation part is not needed to illustrate that point.

He did not wright the Qur'an..Muslims claim that the proof that The Qour'an was God's word is that Mohamed wrote it when he didn't know how to write/read Arabic..

Mohamed could speak Arabic so He could easily tell an educated man to write what he says..

I don't think that Mohamed was an illiterate man. He didn't just get His information from God. He studies other religions and tried to copy some of their laws. If Mohamed really was illiterate and all what he wrote was from God then why there are so many Historical errors from the Qour'an?

like for example: why does Koran 5:116, represent Christians as worshiping Mary?"O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, `worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah"

Christians didn't ever worship Mary. Many Catholics at that time adored her and Mohamed got the impression that they worship her.

You're desperately seeking to prove to yourself and others that the Qur'an could not have possibly came from the mind of a man. The water cycle was well known to the Greeks, hundreds of years before Mohammad was born. Mohammad copied many Greek scientific misconceptions. The proof of that is in the Qur'an. For example, sperm does not come from between the ribs and spine. How do the misconceptions of Ancient Greek scientists wind up in the Qur'an? Mohammad had ears and a good memory. I'll let you take it from there.

The history of agriculture goes back 10,000 years! Man understood the seasons, the moon and sun cycles AND the benefit and/or destructiveness of the weather.

You've just olive-picked chunks of the quran that are flowery poetry and tried to pass it off as proof of something. You failed.

    The ancients weren't thick!

People in one form or another have had about a million years to observe the world about them.

And in all that time I'm certain that lots of them have worked out the water cycle for themselves, with water being the most important resource for most of them.

And no doubt it got into most religions texts(spoken or written)..most of which have been lost to time.

So I guess Mohammed was'nt the first to write about it.

Your right I thought the question was too long & too presumptous that people would know what this all means!

Well, I don't think it means this is proof of truth or prophesy!

As for the water cycle being known only 100 years ago... where does he get that information!

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) did NOT write the Qur'an!!

Allah (SWT) is the author of the Qur'an, which was revealed to Muhammad (pbuh) in sections (the first revelation being in the Cave Hira).

Allah (SWT) created this world, and He is All-Knowing.

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) came to know about all the miracles of Allah (SWT) as the Qur'an was revealed to him and also because He was chosen by Allah (SWT) to be the final Prophet.

    Simple =)

To have a cycle the loop must go in a circle. You have water falling from the sky, which any goatherd can observe, but you do not have surface water evaporating and collecting in clouds.

I don't believe that Muhammad wrote the Quran on his own. All the things you listed were known way before Muhammad wrote them. Look at all the astronomy that was known at that time, and mathematics...the things you listed were common natural processes that would be learned just from watching nature. Who says that the water cycle was not known 100 years ago? That is false information. Obviously it's not just the Christians who lie to make their holy books look more authentic.
