What colour should I paint my room?
I'm moving my room downstairs and I plan to have all white furniture and desks. I was thinking a deep purple, but I'm not sure.
What colour do you think I should paint my room so it compliments the white?

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think "fired brick" (# 6335) might be a good choice.
You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:
You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

A deep eggplant purple would contrast it and look great! The only thing I would be concerned about is the darkness of the color. Because you will be downstairs you may be getting less light in your room and painting the room a dark color will not help. A way to get more natural light in your room is to place a mirror opposite a window so it reflects the light and spreads it throughout the room.

Hot Pink
That's the way I have it. I also have a white desk and it looks amazing. Actually today I started painting my night table white so it can match :] I'll be doing the same with my dresser soon.
My cousin has her room in lime green, it looks really fun too. But really, if you're not affraif of color, it can be anything you want.

I had a deep purple room and it was beautiful, but very dark. The color will work if you get a lot of light in the room.

If you like purple it will look nice with white furniture but it depends on your bedding too. Pick that out first. Here are some pictures that might help inspire you:

i like your idea of deep purple, but i think you could also go with a lighter purple or teal.
