Should a law be passed to force Pelosi to fly coach or even business class?

instead of flying on expensive government planes? SHe doesn't need security as she is expendable. She would not be that herd to replace. Plus, she can fly non-stop just about anywhere on a commercial plane.

Update:

Me-M- I wouldn't wish AMTRAK on my worst enemy. We took it once and it sucked. The heat didn't work, the bathrooms were too filthy to use. The food was unfit for animals, etc... The government should stop subsidizing AMTRAK..

Update 2:

Broken Vet 7- Well said!! I agree whole heartedly!

Yes, I think a law should be passed to force Pelosi to fly coach. Sad, but typical. This is a “professional” politician at it’s worst. Pelosi is the epitome of human garbage, a trivial insignificant parasite making herself seem important by making demands. There must be at least one congress member with enough intestinal fortitude to tell this piece of human waste to go to hell.

Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is fickle, demanding, and notoriously insensitive to the time, costs, and energy needed to accommodate her endless demands. The government watchdog group, Judicial Watch, released a trove of public records through the Freedom of Information Act on Pelosi’s travel arrangements with the U.S. military.

As Speaker of the House, Pelosi is entitled to a reasonable level of military protection and transport. But it’s the size of the planes, the frequency of requests and last-minute cancellations, and the political nature of many of her trips that scream out for accountability.

Reading through the e-mail exchanges between DoD officials and Pelosi’s staff, you can’t help but feel very, very sorry for the men and women in uniform who have to put up with this woman — and even sorrier for all of us taxpayers who are footing her carbon footprint-expanding bills. No word on whether Pelosi required vanilla-scented candles, Evian water, and fresh white lilies aboard the flight. But rest assured: Air Diva traveled in style, courtesy of your tax dollars and the forbearance of the U.S. military. o_O

No like Marie Antoinette in France, she fails to see the tribulations of the citizens. Nancy must have a plane that will NOT have to refuel on the way to Cali "for security reasons" and requested by the 'congressional sergeant at arms'. Is that so she can escape visions of the REAL people as she whisks away through the clouds to sunny California? Nancy fought for Air Pelosi, we'll be walking LONG before the elitist Democrat regime gives up those HARD-WON fringe benefits. Well, like the TV ads, she is a HAPPY COW! (fat, dumb and happy) can we borrow a guillotine from the frogs???

It is not her decision how she flies.

After 9/11, the Speaker of the House was issued a plane for security reasons. The Republican Speaker was the first to use it.

And yes, it is necessary for security reasons, since she is second in line for the presidency after the VP. You might as well say anybody is expendable and can be replaced.

When Pelosi was elected Speaker, House Sergeant at Arms Bill Livingood, according to his own account, worried that a small craft would be unable to travel to her home district of San Francisco without stopping to refuel. Livingood, who was first elected by a Newt Gingrich-led House in 1995, asked the Air Force and the Department of Defense about getting a bigger plane.

    Why single out Pelosi?

I think all members of congress should travel by train. It's more fiscally responsible. And who doesn't like a good train ride? Plenty of time to be harassed by constituents. You'd really get a feel for how much the people hate you. And you get to see the breathtaking vistas of our country at the same time. Maybe this would remind some of them of what they should be working everyday to preserve.

    Edit:

Given what we know about them, I suspect that if congress were forced to ride AMTRAK everywhere that it wouldn't be long before you saw those subsidies increase enough to make the ride quality improve substantially. hahaha!

You guys previously gave Legislators these perks.

She has 6 opportunities a day to go home commercial.

    She does not have to.

I do believe it would be a nice gesture on her part.

But it is part of her pay as a Congresswoman.

    She is within her rights.

Start a bill to rescind Perks to the House and Senate.

In my opinion they make too much money as their basic pay.

They should not even get airfare.

If you have a wish to serve the public...

Then SERVE to public damnit by volunteering your time.

I volunteer at the food banks locally.

I don't ask for gas money or anything.

I do it to serve the public.

I would like to see a study comparing the costs of her and the delegation with her on the trip to Italy. I'd also like to see any (if they exist) security concerns that prevented them from flying commercial.

I'm a liberal Dem. I have issues with this. I'm not agreeing with you saying she is expendable (this isn't a board game).

If that is the case, why didn't Denny Hastert agree to give up the private jet when he was Speaker of the House?

Do you honestly think that he didn't abuse that power as well?

Aren't Republicans supposed to be the party of fiscal responsibility?

She should, I dont really see the point of giving a person with a military escort her own personal plane.

Its a waste of money and who honestly wants to harm her? Terrorist could care less about her and shes not the president so make her fly coach/1st class.

I wouldn't care if she flew first class,,but the woman has got to be put on a budget.

    Hell . . . I'd be PERFECTLY happy if she flew in first class . . . .

    . . . instead of on a PRIVATE jet.

Remember how they GRILLED the executives from the Big-3 when they were in Washington? Those evil men . .. flew to D.C. in private jets when their companies were BROKE and needing government money . . . .

Well . . . the COUNTRY is broke . . . and needing loans from China to stay afloat . . . . and Pelosi still flies in her private jet?

    Too funny . . . .liberals are just so damn entertaining . . .
