Anybody else given up on television news?
Its just so depressing and manipulative. I keep tabs using the internet and buy a coupla papers so I'm still in touch, but TV isn't news, its just bottled anxiety

I guess it depends where you're from. I'm originally from New Zealand and wouldn't consider their news biased in any way whatsoever, although they don't have quite as much coverage of international news. Now I'm in Europe and only really bother watching the first 15 minutes or so of BBC. After the main news, they do tend to let more opinion creep into their reports on news that has been going on for a while. I turn CNN if there's a piece of news I'm already informed about as their coverage is often very good, like Obamas inauguration and a couple of pieces they did on Gaza. I don't think newspapers are that much less biased or depressing though.

I sure have, the other person said it best "no news, is good news" I am tired of watching bias news channels, just give me the facts or nothing at all thank you. The news is also so DEPRESSING, I'd rather not be bombarded with depressing news all the time, because there's nothing I can do. But I do like the local papers and some online stuff.

Nah I hardly ever watch the news. Like you I have a quick flick through the headlines on yahoo home page and an occasional flick through a sunday paper. But only really buy the paper for the TV Guides and mags. x

Yes I have because it's only Government propaganda these days. Channel 4 is almost worst because it mainly seems to be anti British.
At least with the papers you can pick and choose what you're interested and make your own mind up on the different opinions offered. You don't get that on TV News, it's all one sided.

I'm sick of seeing something about the economy EVERY DAY! Even the people who live under rocks know how bad it is! Why must they remind us? On the brightside, a serial killer decides to only murder 2 people today! What wonderful news

Ya, i have given up on the news because it does not give the truth, i go to sources on the internet, that are not controlled to program minds in being brainwashed. Stay away from those medias that are controlled by Zionist. They will have you hypnotized.

I rarely watch the news as agree very depressing, I do see the news online from time to time....don't buy mags as celebrity wannabe's not my thing.....never seems to be much good news lately, stabbings, deaths, murders, terrorists, the bloody credit crunch.....let's hope things improve :) like to see the headlines from time to time but am happier not seeing the gloom...

Only the national news from the major networks. I'll still go for the local news plus, BBC World News and European Journal.

I sort of felt that way until about a year ago when I switched to watching The News Hour with Jim McNeil on PBS. Much better news, with no commercials.

manipulative is the key...I quit watching it several months after 9/11..I'm not much into tv anyway, but the 'news' is something I gave up completely on tv
