One of the 10 commandments states,"Thole shall not take the lords name in vane. Nothing else about swearing that I know of. Your brother is wrong, it only shows how small he is when he swears. Everyone on earth is a sinner in one form or another. Help each other, ask the Lords forgiveness.

this is the most popular bible quote to support not swearing, but it doesn't necessarily address swearing specifically. there are many forms of context a swear can be used where this quote does not apply.
Ephesians 4:29
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen"
if i think putting more force on my speech will cause you to sit up straight and focus on what i have to say, and that message is productive and wise, its all ****'n good.

Eph 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
Eph 4:32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you

Psalm 59:12 " For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak." Ephesians 4:29 " Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Colossians 3:8 " But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth." Would your mom appreciate it ?

The phrase "thou shalt not take the Lord thy God's name in vain" does *not* mean "do not curse". Rather, it means that you shouldn't swear to do something by God's name because 1) you might not be able to finish what you want to do and 2) you cannot commit God to a course of action that you, a human, are taking.

It says not to take the lords name in vain. So the only real swears are ones with "God" in them. The others dont matter.

Most of the swear words we use now weren't around when the bible was written, so I think it's time you got a more modern source of morals, dude.

Swearing, Cursing or just plain foul language?
Ya need to be specific when you ask biblical questions.

The only reference to anything like that is you should not take the lord's name in vain. I don't believe there is anything about swearing.
So, "G*d D*mn it" is not appropriate.
