They've got a great group. It's very possible. Up front with guys Brown, Kopitar, Smyth, Frolov, Williams (if he wasn't hurt), Simmonds, Moller, Stoll etc. they are very solid. Their back end is stellar. Doughty is a stud, he's playing spectacular with them. They've also got Scuderi who is a great shut down guy and has the cup experience from last year. Johnson, Greene and O'Donnell are pretty good as well. Quick has been solid in the net which is a welcome change from the past. They've got a good squad and definitely stand a chance at making it. The future looks bright too. A lot of the forwards mentioned above are young and are about to hit their best hockey. They've got a lot in the system, Bernier looks like he could be a solid tendy one day, Teubert and Hickey could one day be stalwarts on the point for them to go along with Johnson and Doughty. Brayden Schenn will be a nice addition up front in a few seasons as well. All the bad hockey they had in the past few years has turned into loads of good young prospects and with the solid drafting they've had I think you're just starting to see what the Kings will have over the next few seasons.

No.
I realize that they are only 4 points out of a playoff spot right now but there are too many teams (5) that they'd need to leapfrog as well. Therein lies the reason.
When Dean Lombardi is fired they'll make the playoffs cause he won't be there to trade all there best players for pucks.(Demitra & Cammalleri being just 2 examples - mark my words, LA WILL eventually lose another stud player and they'll get jack-all for him, this guy has no business being a GM much like Bettman has no business being league commissioner. Most companies fire people for that kind of mismanagement!)

I'd love to see the Kings sneak into the 8 spot and upset the Sharks in the first round.

I hope we do!!! We deserve it....Our Goalies are better than last year, Defense....and when we faced Vancouver (one of the hottest teams right now) I LOVED OUR POWER PLAY 2 out of 5 and Matt Greene taking a puck to the face with 3.0 left in the third with Vancouver having an extra player!!!!!!! :D We are only 4 points out!!!!! Go Kings!!!!!!!!! With Justin Williams coming to the team in two weeks maybe!!!! Everyone better watch out for us, we have the best goalies down in AHL, Bernier and Johnson I think. Fowards, Hickey, Marty Murray, and Trevor Lewis.

They have a good chance to. I hope they do. However, the odds are against them.
