Should a news organization be able to lie to the american people with impunity?

Or should I say a "so called" news organization.

Without naming names, there is a news organization out there that not only admits that it lies to the American People, but *sued* for the right to lie-and won!

Opinions?

Its sad but true, the news agencies normally take a small amount of truth and twist it or exaggerate it to make there point. We all know the news isn't accurate. Its becoming ridiculous that one network is permitted to completely fabricate the news, and use it for a political platform.

What would happen to free speech if you could sue news organizations for "lies"? Every time a commentator offered an opinion, the political opposition would file suit.

The "news" media in America is an extension of government. The anti-trust laws which were repealed under Reagan with the help of Carter's administration after the Nixon trial covered up the CoIntel Pro scandel (google it).

In 1984 there were over 150 companies that shared control of the media, today there are 5. And all 5 are part of the U.S. propaganda machine.

[In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.]

Because news organizations are only required to make money, not to tell the truth.

Since when did it become illegal for a non-government company to lie?
