How to get back......?
after a long lay off for shin splints. Im kind of skeptical to get back out and start running. It has been about 4 weeks, allot of ice and stretching. Im able to jump on one leg, squat in the catchers position and go up stairs with not one ounce of pain. I did jog one lap around the track with very minimal pain. Actually, I think it was more in my mind than anything. Those that have come back from shin splints, what worked for you to get back into your old selve?

actually shin splints do go away. and if you keep running through the pain of all of your injuries they get worse, and worse until something serious happens and then your done. i suggest just easing back in to your workouts, just start slow and work your way up. that is the best way to do it. also the shin splints will go away once your legs get stronger. try doing some shin strengthening ex. good luck and i hope this helps. oh and stretch your shins more often

um. shin splints never go away.
you can take years off of running. but once you get back out there it's going to hurt.
if you love running you learn to run through the pain. stop taking time off, run, do your workouts do whatever it is you have to do. after a workout ice. that's all you can do.
as a runner you go through more pains than some can handle. but you get over it.
