yes it is high for teens or adults but not dangerous...the thing to do now is to begin watching your sodium intake...potato chips, pretzels, fast foods, french fries at fast food places where you can even see them grab a large salt shaker can and go over those fries....just cut back on this type thing and you should lower it a lot.

The American Heart Association has lowered the scale for "best" bp..it use to be 120/70...now they say if can get even below the 120 its good.

With your family having a hx of hpn you should begin now trying to change the family pattern. Read labels...if the content list Sodium 350 or above Don't Eat It!!!

    Not at all.

There is no such thing as a "normal" blood pressure (BP) because everyone's body is different - however trends show that most *adults* blood pressure is 100 to 120 / 60-80. Most people just say 120/80.

Blood pressure can rise or fall for several reasons - most commonly for movement (like exercising, walking, getting out of bed, etc.). If you are worried, you can actually get a machine that can automatically take your BP, or you can learn to do it yourself using a stethoscope + a sphygmomanometer (horribly fancy way of saying "blood pressure cuff + meter).

Lastly, your BP was taken at the doctor's office - it's very common for patients to get a little nervous and stressed while visiting the doctor. Stress is also well-known to cause an increase in BP.

So you really should not be too alarmed by your BP :)

I believe you just keep your exercises and sweat a lot. Watch yourself while doing your exercises all the time, if it's hard to breath, stop what ever your doing and think of how you could get to the doctor quickly. Take baby aspirin with you all the time, (baby aspirin is known for thinning blood which will help a little on blood clot - you better ask a doctor about this.) Watch what food you eat. Do away from meat of anykind. Eat a lot of fiber food and green leafy vegetables. Yes, there are teenagers who have high blood pressure and high cholesterol and even have bypass surgery. Sometimes this is not because of what was eaten but it has to do genetically. Maybe trace both sides of family, if there is family members who had died of heart attack and what age and what they did when they are alive. I've seen 9 years old had a bypass surgery and I've heard some athlete that's very healthy that died of heart attack. I've seen in my town, a 11 year old girld soccer player just collapse in the soccer field and died there - heart attack. Although, we don't know why it is like that, we can just do the best we can in this life. Enjoy it! Do away from any source of anger, worries, and things that could upset you. Don't watch scary movies and laugh a lot or be a happy person all the time. Just do good things for other people and for ourselves and always pray to God for a little bit more life. Always thank "Him" for yesterday, for today and for tomorrow for we may not know if there'll be some more of those. Don't worry too much. Smile a lot to decrease tension. Just don't smile to no one because they might think you are a psycho... Think about happy moments where it could make you feel better and happy. Hope this help...don't worry too much, ok?

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Over 140/90 is too high and needs treatment.

BP varies quite a lot and usually in a doctor's office it is higher than it is in other environments. This is known as the white coat syndrome. People often get a bit tense in a doctor's office and that increases your BP. If you are very relaxed your BP is much lower.

It's not that high, the normal blood pressure should be 120/70.

You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com/ ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.

The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.
