Simple use ascii-code: press alt+"decimal number"

You'll notice that the two are different from 127 on: it depends what keyboard you have. To get the other symbol put a 0 before it.
An example: Alt+169 gives me: ⌐ while Alt+0169 gives me: ©

When There Are Symbols on The Keyboard you want say you want the percent key all you have to do is press shift and then the key

There are html codes for the main mathematical symbols. Have a look at the attached link for more details.
