I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's degree in Business Administration. I am a full member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers and also a member of the American Society Mechanical Engineers. I have been a member of Mensa since High School. I live and work in Florida building custom swimming pools and fountains. I was born in 1962, play guitar and bass and my friend Melissa says "Boy, you sure do like explaining stuff to people, you need to find other people who need answers to their questions".

  • How long did the Democrats have 60 members this year?

I mean, at the beginning of the year Al Franken was missing, right? And then since Ted Kennedy died they didn't have 60 votes.

How long did they actually have 60 voting members?

  • My friend got an order of suspension for a ticket that he never received?

My friend got an order of suspension for his license last week, but he says he never got the ticket. It is for Loud Music audible more than 25 feet, or something. But my friend HATES loud music.

It has given to the driver of a certain car, 1991 white Pontiac 2-door. ( I got a copy of the ticket online.) I want to get the address of the registered owner, but the state will only reply to snail mail.

My friend wanted to get a hearing from a Judge, which was recommended by the Desk Officer. But the Court form says that the request must be made within 30 days of the ticket, but my friend never even heard of the ticket until aout 45 days after it was issued.

The ticketing officer has not responded to our request for a face to face meeting.

My friend is less worried about the $120 fine than he is about convincing the police that he is the victim of a crime, identity theft. He doesn't want someone out there pretending to be him and getting into all kinds of trouble.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • What programming language should I use? and why?

I want to make a little program to do hydraulic calculations for a specific type of plumbing system. I have not done any programming since the Commodore 64 days.

I have access to Visual Basic 2002 Standard and Visual C++ 2002 Standard. The program would be mostly entering data in 4 or 5 boxes and pushing the GO button. Some of the calculations involve logs and some must be done by iteration. I would also like to do a little graphing of the system curve vs the pump curve.

What programming language should I use? and why?

    Thank You in Advance.

  • Who were the first Europeans to settle in Florida? WHY did the Spanish first land at St Augustine?

I am just asking this as a poll, because I find that schools (even here in Florida) do not teach the truth about the earliest Florida settlers. Everyday schoolchildren are dragged to St Augustine from all over Florida, but never are told WHY the Spanish landed there.

  • Did Fox News hire Glen Beck to balance against Oldbermann?

Are they on at the same time? (No cable anymore, just down to internet clips, but I was a faithful Fox New Watcher for years).

    They have similar styles

    1. Loud

    2. Opinionated

    3. Don't listen to their guests

    4. Mugging the camera and crazy camera angles

    5. Willing to COMPLETELY stretch the truth

    6. (what do you call it when someone has an over high opinion of themselves?)

    And many more.

I think that Fox make a really bad move hiring this "pundit". What do you think

  • Is "Rush" really his first name or a nickname?

It's just always funny when a fat or a slow guy is called "Speedy" or "Zippy" or "Flash" (or like "Lightnin' " on the old "Amos and Andy Show).

Voted for Bush x2 and McCain, just don't like being bullied by the "Social Conservatives". They should just start their own party, the country is big enough for another political party. It shouldn't be a choice between just socialism or strict religious values. There's gotta be a middle ground for us independents. Sorry, was I ranting?

Good Luck Everybody, with the rest of 2009!

  • How much do I get from the Stimulus Bill?

Bush sent me $600. That really helped me out!

And he spent just chump change compared to what Obama is spending!

So how much can I expect from Obama? I hope that it's a big stack'o green. I hope it gets here soon, cause I'm spending already! I'll do my part and spend it, Barry, you just send it my way. Together we'll get this economy moving again!

  • A Hypothetical Question for Republicans?

s there any possible pair-up (2008) that you can think of where you would have voted for the candidate from the opposing party?

You can choose ANY living politician from either party.

    For example:

If it had turned out to be Hillary against Romney, I would have chosen Hillary (probably)

If it had turned out to be Lieberman against Romney, I would have chosen Lieberman (definitely)

If it had turned out to be Barney Frank against Thad Allen (was that his name), I would have shot myself! (definitely)

Background: I consider myself a political Mugwump. I voted for McCain, I really liked Bush. But I sent money to Hillary this year before the primaries were over, none to Republicans.

Just a fun question, put your imaginations in overdrive!

PS I asked this question a few hours ago to Dems and got no responses. Do the Reps have a more independent streak? We will see.

  • A question for High School Science Teachers?

I have noticed many people have a misconception about heat transfer.

"Which freezes faster, hot water or cold water?"

Most people that I ask this to say that the hot water freezes faster. How can it be that so many people are misinformed? When I ask where they got such a crazy idea, they always say the same thing. "From my high school science teacher". (I just asked the question here on yahoo and got a 90% hot water answer)

How can we spread the truth to the average science teacher? Do you all have a newsletter or something?

It makes me cringe when I think about the wasted electricity as millions of people fill ice trays with HOT water and put them in the freezer.

(Please don't quote the Mpemba thing. What that says is that it is possible, that you might get cold water to freeze faster occasionally, not that it is the rule, that it is an exception. And in it the "theory" states that external factors may be responsible, duh. Like putting one sample closer to the freezer vent.)

    Please help save energy, teachers.

  • Obama to bring back Arseneo Hall?

I heard at work that Obama's first official act as President was to bring back the Arseneo Hall Show. Is that true? And I know that this is not racist, as I heard it from my friend Willie, a genuine, "dyed-in-the-wool" black man.
