Is it possible to cook lentils with rice in a rice cooker?

I was looking for a way to make my rice and vegetables a little more nutritious, and wondered of the lentils would cook as quickly as the white rice does. Thank you.

I don't think so -- I generally pre-soak legumes before cooking for easier digestion. I also checked my rice cooker instruction guide for other foods, and dried beans were not listed. But here's an idea, you could try sprouting lentils (best to order or buy from a supplier specifically meant for that purpose) and tossing them in cold with your rice and veggies! Also, here's a couple flavor ideas if you're interested: one thing I've done that is tasty with my rice cooker is to mix rice and millet and use chicken stock instead of water, adding fresh lemon juice and butter on top to serve. You might also be able to add Bragg's Liquid Aminos after cooking for added flavor, or mix a dressing to pour over with salad oil, vinegar, lemon, Braggs, a little splenda (or sugar if you like) and sea salt. That's a tasty mix for salad too. As an alternative, you could mix a tomato based sauce.

I'll betcha that WOULD work, as long as you soak the lentils overnight in water in the fridge.
