Having a credit card does not mean you have or will have debt; you just need to spend responsibly. You have a couple of options that *might* work. Call and see if that location will accept cash. A lot of car rental places are actually franchised, so it may or may not work for you. You can use a debit card that is accepted as a credit card. You can get a prepaid card, but you need to make sure that it is for the amount (or higher) than what the hold is they will place on the credit card.

It won't happen. Not in Denver or anywhere else. All car rental places demand a credit card.

I am in the same boat. Certain companies will use the card you booked online with as a credit card. Just check with their policies someone told me that they will take the money up front instead of when you return the car, so they take out additional if you go over miles or something like that. You have to fight to get the money returned to you. But I would suggest just calling down there and see if they will take a prepaid card. Buy the visa at your local store and just put enough money to pay for the car. We always use taxis when we go down to florida for that reason. Please let me know if the pre paid worked with this company so that I might be able to rent a car as well.

You may have luck with Enterprise. Sometimes they will take a $300.00 money order and hold that for the time during your rental. I did this in Arizona a few years back.
