I have been working at home since 01/08. i was laid off at the end of 07. I have found success with Elance, and also http://www.workfromhomeinternetbusinessnow.com./ It can work you just have to be diligent and willing to work hard. Good luck.

It depends on what YOU can do. What do you want to do from home/have time for?
Every Home Based Business has an initial start up cost. If anyone tells you othervise they are lying. You have to invest something. The question is how much?
I have started over 15 businesses from my home over the past 10 years, with startup costs anywhere from 15,000 for a construction company to marketing utility services for local companies for a little over 300 bucks. I would suggest you stay away from the "medical billing" or "mystery shopper" industries, they are mainly scams.
The best advice I can give you is, instead of looking for a home based business, sit down and evaluate what it is YOU are good at. Then match up your talent with a service or industry in your area that you would be willing to work with. Approach them and present a clear plan that would benefit both parties. Don't tell me you are not good at anything, everybody is good at something.
Stay away from MLMs. Although they are not necessarily pyramid schemes, thats a common misconception, they do tend to cost money and return very little.
I don't normally do this, but if you want to chat about it, feel free to e-mail me. I am not sure what I can help you with, but if you have a question and I can answer it for you, I'd be happy to. GOOD LUCK!
