Is Craigslist a decent place to search for a real job?

I have used sites like Monster and Hot Jobs and Career Builder, and recently started to look at Craigslist. The problem is that many of the ads sound shady, and the few that I responded to that did not sound shady, did sound shady when I got a reply.

So has anyone ever used it to get a real job?

My girlfriend landed a job last week at a law firm. She found the ad on Craig's List. But, please stay away from the "work from home" thing. 99.9 % of them are scams!!!

I found my current job on Craigslist. You just have to be careful, because there are plenty of scams out there, but there are plenty of legit companies hiring people on Craigslist. I work full-time, support myself, have a car and an apartment, full benefits, working a job that I found on Craigslist. Be discriminate. It's important to note that anyone can place a job ad, even in a newspaper. Just be smart about looking on Craigslist--you CAN find a decent job there. Best of luck.

guardian online prints jobs everyday so its a good place to start. You can upload your cv and therefore easily apply to any job that takes your fancy - the site is split into different types of jobs, from arts/hertigate through to IT. Good luck!

Craiglist can be shady. But, I have had friends who found really good jobs on craiglist. You really just have to be careful.
