I tried Woodchuck..yuk! Even though the Dark & Dry 802 or whatever it was called wasnt too bad but the rest were like smirnoff ice drinks.

i have tried many american ciders
i agree about woodchuck, not the greatest
i do enjoy hornsby's hard apple cider more, and hardcore cider is also good.
I also a while ago got a couple 6-packs of pear cider made someplace in Washington state that was amazing, but for the life of me I don't remember the name or company.
you might give up and do what I do... make my own. at an average price of $8 for a 6-pack, i found hard cider a little too costly, so i bought a fermentor and accessories, and brew my own for about $15 for 5 gallons.

it's a little of both. Apple or pear cider is a non alcohol drink that is simply the juice that comes out of an apple that has been squeezed and squished. It is dark and you can't see through it, unlike apple juice which you can see through. We used to make it on my grnadfather's farm in Kentucky when I was a child. Now if you let that jug of cider sit out for a few days, the natural yeasts that are in the air will make the cider ferment, and we'd drink that too. Probably not the healthiest thing to drink. Luckily I never got sick. but once it ferments, we called it hard cider.
