How do I change the fps of my video file to 25 without affecting the quality of the file?

Hi. I'm trying to edit a video of my holiday to make a nice movie from it, but the video is at 26fps (the manufacturers have set it this way) so it refuses to work with my video editing program. Therefore I have to change the frames per second of the video to the standard of 25 to make it work. The programs I have tried successfully get the 25fps and make the video work with my editor, but the quality of the video reduces allot.

Update:

I'm using Magix Movie Edit Pro plus and a tachyon xc camera. The only editing program I have found which does not have a problem with the fps is Cyberlink power director- but this program keeps crashing so its not an option.

    If you go to

www.videohelp.com there are loads of articles about video conversion. Its a shame that you did not mention your Editing software as its quite important, many of the better editing packages Sony, Adobe, Avid may be able to sort the problem out for you.

Also the type of video camera

Sony and Adobe do trial software, not sure about Avid

Hope the links help a little
