Do they get as far as snells law and TIR?

Hi. I just purchased a laptop from the Dell outlet, dells own 'factory shop' through which they sell stuff with cosmetic imperfections. The bit of research before I paid for it told me that from the Inspiron 15R name it should be good. But I decided to do a bit of post purchase research to properly find out what I had got. This turned up a problem, I can't find another laptop like mine anywhere, not even on dells website. Can you help me work out what I have got?

The laptop I got is described as an "Inspiron 15R - N5010", which led me to believe it is an Inspiron 15R as seen here: http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-r/pd

But that laptop does not have anywhere near the same specification as mine, in fact the graphics on that is nVidia whilst on mine it is ATI.

The picture of my laptop matches the picture of the Inspiron 15, but yet again the specs are completely different. http://www.dell.com/uk/p/inspiron-15-n5030/pd

I am building a circuit that requires a wavelike signal to be delayed by a few ms. I am told a filter (high pass, etc) will do this, but cannot find any equations that give the time delay for a particular filter. Does anyone have any information about filters in this application? Thanks

Do you really notice much of a performance increase?

Is it worth the money?

I'm looking for a case for my computer, but have not found anything quite right and was hoping someone could suggest something to me. Here are my requirements:

-Looks good. So not too boxy and preferably with hidden drive bays.

-Large. Big enough to house large 11 inch graphics cards like the 4870x2.

-Good cable management. So plenty of space behind the motherboard tray.

-Quiet. Perhaps not so important, but I would like a case which does think about quietness.

Price: Less than £150.

There are 2 DVI plugs in each card, so I presume this is possible but I am not sure.

There are other problems with my pc which started at the same time, they are:

right-click no longer works or just flickers on and off

drop down boxes disappear before I can select an option

Typing into search boxes etc does not work (not even with on on-screen keyboard, but ctrl-alt-delete does work)

I have tried a few things, like a virus check and a system restore- but I do not know what is causing this. Any ideas?

I really want to make myself a proper curry house chicken korma (I know I could just go to a curry house, but cooking it is half the fun) and have tried out a few recipes, but they all seem to be a little too spicy and sharp to be the chicken Korma I like. I think they are more like the traditional Indian korma, rather than the British version I am used to and want.

The kind of chicken korma I am after is the one which is mild, creamy in consistency and quite sweet.

Why graphics card is playing up, and one of the troubleshooting steps I have been given is "set the BIOS to safe or setup". I have had a look though the mobo manual to see what this means, but could not find anything. Ideas?

The mobo is an ASUS with an AMD chipset.

I would like to install windows 7 directly onto a new hard drive which will be placed in a HDD dock, so that I can just slip the HHD into my new computer when the rest of the components arrive. Is this possible?

I am considering getting a new TomTom 740 and want to take advantage of its speed camera warnings when I am on a route a know fairly well. Will the TomTom still warn me of speed cameras when there is no route entered into it?

Hi. I'm trying to edit a video of my holiday to make a nice movie from it, but the video is at 26fps (the manufacturers have set it this way) so it refuses to work with my video editing program. Therefore I have to change the frames per second of the video to the standard of 25 to make it work. The programs I have tried successfully get the 25fps and make the video work with my editor, but the quality of the video reduces allot.

I want to use my laptop in the car, but do not want to shell out the £40 Dell is charging for an in car charger. Instead I have found a power inverter that costs £25 which I can plug my standard charger into. Will I be able to run my laptop off the 140watt power supply? All my laptop tells me is that it needs 240v at 1.5amps. Thanks

In the UK it is a legal requirement for all schools to have "a daily act of collective worship".

Personally I think it is a bad idea as it reinforces the irrational lies told to children by the Church and sometimes their parents. Education is about fact, not fiction.

I hear many people saying how good Linux is and how it is far superior to Windows, but I do not see how it is better. I tried Ubuntu but was very underwhelmed by its ease of use, features and appearance. Can someone please tell me what is the point of getting Linux?
