I need suggestions for a thank you gift for my daughter's coach?
I'm having a lot of trouble finding the right gift because he is not someone we know very intimately.
He is middle-aged, a family man and really supportive of the kids.
We want to give him something that he could actually use and enjoy, not something he might consider re-gifting.

I would guess that because he is a coach, he is interested in sports. How about a gift card to a sporting good store? That way, he gets to treat himself to something he might really enjoy.

A gift certificate to a popular coffee shop, or bookstore, or have a t-shirt made up that says COACH (you could make it yourself using an iron-on transfer) and have all the kids sign the back of it.

I agree with gift certificate to restaurant or gas.
Bottle of wine if you know he likes it or a case of different kinds of beers.
Autograph the ball from all the players.
Take his picture at a game and put on anything.
Go to a store (Things Remembered around here) that you can have something engraved with World's greatest coach.
Box of candies.
maybe you could ask his wife.

A gift card to a restaurant would be a great idea. He could either take his wife out for a date or take the whole family. :)

Would you ever consider cooking something homemade for him? if you feel this is not something you would not consider than maybe an invite for a lovely evening supper with your family and his. This would give you and yor family more time to get to know this coach more better on a personal level. It could even give your children on his team more time and him as well in getting a better connection with eachother in a warm and safe and friendly enviroment......... I DO TRUELY HOPE IT WORKS OUT WELL FOR EVERYONE whatever you decide to do. ANDI HOPE YOUR TEAM CONTINUES TO DO WELL......GO,GO,GO WHOEVER YOUR TEAM IS(a little yell out of a cheer for you. ha! ha!)

Why get a coach a gift?
I mean, it is his job to coach and support the kids. Just shake his hand and tell him "Thank-You".
It sounds small, but it will mean a lot.
If it is that important to you to get him something, offer to take him to the pub and buy him a cold beer, and a sandwich.

what sport?
Gift certificates can be good, food or gas...everyone eats, and everyone drives. Might as well make his life a little easier...
if you go food, make sure it's a place with variety...for example...not a place that ONLY has sushi...on the off chance he doesn't like sushi
