I'm planning on getting another tattoo. I know what I want it to stand for, I just don't know how to design it. I'm going to put it on my right calf.
I want it to say "I remember those gone, those to come, and I thank them". It's my way of supporting our troops, both past and present.
I know I want an eagle and a flag in it somewhere, and I was thinking a helmet and a rifle, but I don't know. I want the eagle to look normal, not colored like the flag. What about putting "American Soldier" around it? Please no word suggestions unless its a song title or lyrics from a song that embody what I want the tat to say. I have no intention of joining any part of the US army/navy/marines, or anything; but have lost family in past wars (people I've never met be respect because of what they did) and a part of my family is marines/navy.
Also, for getting it done on my calf, what do I need to do to prepare for it? Or will they do it before it gets done? In the future, will the hair not grow back because of the "damage" done to the area the tat is?
This isn't my first tat, nor will it be my last, I'm just not 100% sure about tats on the legs.
Please explain why you feel the way you do about it. And don't bother telling me not getting any tattoos, its too late, I've already got some and will continue to get them until there are no more things I want to get done.

wow that idea is quite complex... if it is done right i think it will look great!
usually, the tattoo artist will shave the area that needs to be tattooed, but if you want you can shave yourself first. i actuallu suggest waxing your legs, or that area, before hand at least. waxing can last from 4-6 weeks. you wont have the irritation of hair growing in as your tattoo is healing!
your hair will still grow in on top of your tattoo and shaving it wont be a problem. however, waxing might make it fade since waxing makes the first thin layer of skin come off. sounds painful if youve never dont it but it really isnt all that bad! worth it for smooth legs for at least a month :P hair grows from deep inside your skin from little follicles, not at the surface of your skin so no damage is done to the area... no worries.
