  • German Shepard mix with annoying chewing habit. How do we make it stop?

She's 9-11 months, adopted from a shelter in February. She started out chewing door frames, progressed to the couch, and has now taken to going further up the door frame, the baseboards, and a nice chunk out of the drywall! She's destroyed every soft toy in the house so that all we have left is bones and I won't bring another soft toy into the house, it only lasts about 10 minutes before she's got it apart and is eating it.

She's fed 4 cups Hills Science Diet once a day. It's the amount recommend for her weight and she's not putting on or losing weight and the vet has said that means she's getting what she needs. We've tried breaking it down into smaller meals but then she won't eat. She's now throwing up or having any other health issues. She's lost all her puppy teeth now but she's still chewing.

The no chew spray doesn't work and to protect our house we've taken to kenneling her. Unfortunately this has led to most of the time as our 17 year old daughter is the only one home during the week.

My fiance and I drive truck together and are only home weekends. My American Pit Bull Terrier rides in the truck with us and is NOT destructive and only chews on appropriate toys.

The shepard mix will chew on inappropriate things with us home. We've been sitting on the couch with the dogs behind us and then caught her chewing on the couch. You walk down the hallway and catch her chewing the back door frame.

It isn't due to separation anxiety but that does appear to make it worse.

  • What could be wrong with the Oscar?

We have a large Oscar. He is kept in a 20 gallon tank. He recently jumped out of the tank and I brought him back. He was doing good but still refuses to eat. I know large Oscars can go a while without eating and that's what I chalked it up to, but he continues to not eat. He's still healing from his out of water experience.

His water condition is good, I know a tank cleaning needs done and soon but the water condition is still good, it was one of the first things I checked.

He now has a while string like substance on his face and on his fin on his back he's got what appears to be white bumps. He's never had these. He had a case of hole in the head before we got him but that hasn't worsened so I haven't worried about it. I've considered the possibility that the hole in the head is back and just not seeing it because I know it can do a lot of damage.

He's also taking the food in his mouth but he doesn't swallow it, he "chews" it and then spits it back out. He's not looking unhealthy or anything, I just can't figure out what is wrong with him.

What could be wrong with him? Would a water change and tank cleaning fix the problem?

  • Could this be a breaking point?

Ok, so currently its a long distance relationship because he's out of state finishing school. We talk nightly and all day through texting. We've talked a lot and when he was home for break we had sex once. It was good (him being a virgin and all) and we've talked about in the future what would happen, and he doesn't like what I like, and won't do what I like. Like I like it hard and rough and fast, and he's already said point blank he won't do that (cuz I like my cervix hit) cuz it would cause me pain. No matter how much I tell him I like that pain, he says he won't do it. He also refuses to even talk about doggy style or anal (again things I like). He also refuses to tie me up, again I like this sometimes.

Could this be a breaking point with him refusing to do what I like? Or is it something we could work out? Cuz I honestly think if I don't get what I like that I will wander. He's admitted that he MIGHT be willing to try some things, but there isn't a guarantee that he will.

  • Should I feed my cats less food?

I recently switched my cats food again. They aren't eating it all. They were on a special food to get their weight down but they are both at their goal weight so I decided to switch their food back to Purina indoor formula. They were getting a half cup twice daily of the other food but they aren't eating that much of the new stuff. They do eat it, and seem to like it.

Is it possible that the new food is more filling and they don't need as much as they did of the weight loss food? How much should I feed them twice daily? Or do I experiment to see how much they eat in one sitting?

  • Whats the best way for me to tighten my stomach and lose a bit of weight?

I'm 19 yrs old, about 5 ft 5, and about 180 pounds. I'm on the depo shot.

I've been trying to do Flirty Girl Fitness (I bought the dvds). I've got a bit of a pudgey stomach and don't like it. I've been trying to eat healthy, but I can't stand most of the foods that are healthy for you. I've been getting back into biking recently and I've been thinking of getting back into swimming and I'll be walking a lot if I get a dog.

What are some other things I can do that will help me out?

Don't tell me to go on a diet, it won't work for me. I do eat fruits/veggies but not enough, and I can only handle salads once in a while. My main diet consists of pizza rolls, pb&j sandwiches, oatmeal, amp/monster, mr. pibb or hi-c, and kool-aid. I also eat a lot of McDonalds as thats where I work and since we can't leave the premisis its either that or not eat (i get really sick and migraines if I don't eat). I eat about twice a day, its all I seem to need as even a small amount of food can last me nearly the hole day. I also sleep a lot when I get the chance (10+ hours) and about 4 hours a night the other 5 days a week.

So what can I do to tighten my stomach and lose a bit of weight?

  • How is it possible that a smaller rabbit produced more ashes upon cremation than a slightly larger rabbit?

A little over a year ago, after euthanizing my rabbit (Stormy), I had his remains cremated and his ashes returned to me. There isn't a lot of ashes, but a lot of bone fragments. I recently put down my rabbit (Spunky), and I got his ashes back today. For a 5 pound rabbit, there are a lot of ashes and very few bone fragments. Among the ashes are a part of a heart, well two parts but they are the same piece, and I have the other half. As far as I can tell, there is only supposed to be one heart piece, not two. The amount of ashes and the fact that there are two fragments instead of one lead me to believe that this is NOT my rabbit. There is an "id" tag with a number on it in with the ashes, and I'm planning to call in the morning and ask a few questions.

Both rabbits are about the same size, they were of the same breed (mini lop mix). Spunky was a tad over 5 pounds and Stormy was about 6-7 pounds.

If there has been a mistake with the ashes, is there any legal course of action I can take?

My brother says that the reason there aren't a lot of ashes from Stormy is because he was cremated at a lower temp for a longer period of time and that the reason there are more ashes with Spunky is that he was cremated at a higher temp for a shorter amount of time. This makes sense to me, but is this why there are more ashes? Or will I have to live with the fact that there is no way to prove if I truly got my rabbit's ashes back?

  • How long should I wait?

February of 07 our female cat had a litter of kittens. One went to an outside family who has recently given her back to us. She has all 4 paws de-clawed, is spayed, and is current on all her vaccinations. She has been getting sick a lot, but all the tests they had done came back normal. She doesn't have anything wrong with her, so it has been concluded that she inherited her daddy's sensitive stomach, just like her full brother has (both daddy and the older brother live with me). The other two kittens in the litter haven't shown signs of having stomach problems.

My question is, how long should I wait to see if she adapts to my two cats (her dad and brother)? Or should I just send her to the home we already have set up (no other cats and only one person) in case she didn't get along with my two cats?

We've had her back home for about an hour and while at first she was completely fine with me holding her, as soon as she was introduced to her new home (the basement) she backed herself into the corner under my desk and she hasn't stopped hissing or growling. Even if nobody is near her, she can still be heard.

  • What would be a good design...?

To remember my brother? Since we lost him in 2003, I've been wanting to find a way to show that I remember him and know that were he still around, my life wouldn't be what it is today.

He was a big fan of Deadman Inc. (a wrestler?), he was in love with dragons and wizards, he liked the grim reaper, he loved video games and rock music, he was a good artist, and a HS grad planning on college in the fall. He also loved cars and the chrome that goes on trucks. He also enjoyed putting models together.

I was originally thinking the reaper with his name on the scythe, but I don't know. At one time I was toying with a dragon going up my spine and my brother's name incorporated somewhere. Preferably something that would look good done all in black. Maybe incorporate the song title Who'd You'd Be Today in it.

I'm thinking of placing it on my right shoulder blade, maybe my right bicep, depends on final design and size.

  • How long after getting a tattoo do I have to wait before I get it re-colored?

I got my third tattoo March 25. It has fully healed and the color still looks great, except in the blue area of the flag. Its very streaky and (to me) looks horrible. Plus, some of it looks purple, not blue. Nobody else notices it, but I've stopped showing it off because of the blue area.

How long should I wait before I call to see if they'll re-do that area?

  • Why is it healing differently from my other 2 tattoos?

I got my third tattoo March 25. Everything went good, and it peeled and everything and it itched, and then it was fine. And now today its started to itch like no other and its starting to peel a second time. My other two peeled once and when the peeling was done itched for a few days then stopped and nothing more. I went to a new place for the third one. This ones on my calf, the others are on my right arm and chest.

Could it be a difference in the inks used? Could I be allergic to something in the ink used? Is its location why its healing differently? What can I use to help stop the itching, but won't hurt my tat?

There are no scabs or bumps or redness or anything, its just starting to peel and itch again. The itching is to the point it can't be ignored and smacking it doesn't help any. Its also still a little sore to the touch. My other two healed in about a week.

  • What are my chances of children?

I'm 19 and have had my period since I was about 12. Its always been irregular and when I was 15 or 16 I went to the doctor after not having my period for roughly 18 months. I wasn't worried that I could be pregnant, as the sex wasn't unprotected, but I'd been warned by my mom that I could become infertile if I didn't have my period. So after several tests and a vaginal ultrasound, it was determined I wasn't pregnant and that I had poly-cystic ovarian syndrome. I've done very minor research on this and wasn't really worried about it. I had resigned myself to the fact that my chances of children were nearly nonexistent. I was on birth control for a while to keep my periods regular, but was told by my doctor that the longer I was on birth control, the lower my chances got, but the longer I wasn't having periods, the lower my chances got.

I've been a steady weight for the past 5-6 years, and prior to that only weighed about 20 pounds less than what I do know (roughly 180 pounds now). But even before gaining that weight, my periods were NEVER regular. I was told by my mom that she had the same problems with her period and had problems conceiving all her children (only two carried to full term). A similar problem seems to be seen on my father's side of the family.

I know that by looking at your ancestors you can sometimes tell how the future will play out. So now I'm wondering if my chances of having a child are as slim as what I've been told? Will I have the same problem carrying to full term like my doctor thinks when looking at my family history?

I've been trying to exercise and lose a bit of weight, and I'm eating healthier (not a lot, but definitely better) than I have in years, and I'm starting to sleep regularly and I'm cutting caffeine from my diet (except when at work, but I'm not drinking as much as I used to). If my weight is the problem why I'm not having periods, how much should I lose? Am I on the right track to losing it?

No, I'm not looking at trying to get pregnant now, but I want to know if my chances are as low as I've been led to believe.

  • What would you think if you saw this?

    http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii64/Troubled_G...

Its the tat that I got on my right calf about a week ago. In this pic its about 24 hours old.

What would you think if you saw it? Would you say anything to the person?

Yes, I'm aware that I asked something similar before I got it, but figured I'd ask again now that it's done and I have a picture of it.

  • What would you say/think...?

If you saw this tattoo on a females right calf: an eagle over an American flag with the words "Have you forgotten?" around it?

    Something similar to this: http://www.copernicus.com/FLAG28.jpg

  • How would I let them know...?

I have this thing with being touched, I absolutely hate it, and freak out. Accidental touches don't bother me, I barely register them. When its done on purpose, I freak, and say (almost yell) "Don't touch me!"

The weird part is, some people can touch me, and I have no problems with it, it doesn't freak me out, other people touch me, and I freak, it makes my skin crawl. There is no gender preference, there is no trust thing (that I know of) as some people I trust with my life, I can't stand them touching me, and some that I don't trust, them touching me doesn't bother me.

But there's this one guy, I have a crush on him, and when he touches me, it doesn't bother me, and I don't know why, but I'd like to let him know that just because I seem upset with him after he touches me, that it didn't bother me, and I kind of liked it.

By touching I don't mean fondling or anything, I mean like a tap on the shoulder, or trying to tickle me, or a hand on the back or shoulder letting me know they are there or that they need me to move.

As far as I can tell, the crush doesn't have a thing to do with my being touched issue, as I've had crushes on guys from afar and then when I got to know them and they'd touch me, I would freak.

  • What would you recommend?

I'm planning on getting another tattoo. I know what I want it to stand for, I just don't know how to design it. I'm going to put it on my right calf.

I want it to say "I remember those gone, those to come, and I thank them". It's my way of supporting our troops, both past and present.

I know I want an eagle and a flag in it somewhere, and I was thinking a helmet and a rifle, but I don't know. I want the eagle to look normal, not colored like the flag. What about putting "American Soldier" around it? Please no word suggestions unless its a song title or lyrics from a song that embody what I want the tat to say. I have no intention of joining any part of the US army/navy/marines, or anything; but have lost family in past wars (people I've never met be respect because of what they did) and a part of my family is marines/navy.

Also, for getting it done on my calf, what do I need to do to prepare for it? Or will they do it before it gets done? In the future, will the hair not grow back because of the "damage" done to the area the tat is?

This isn't my first tat, nor will it be my last, I'm just not 100% sure about tats on the legs.

  • What's your honest opinion?

All the pets I've had I allow access to food 24/7 and re-fill the bowl when it gets empty. I've recently run into info saying this isn't the best way to feed my rabbits and cats, but I don't get why feeding them just once or twice a day would be healthier.

I very rarely find them in the food dish for long periods of time and only see them in it about twice a day, and I know they aren't being pigs because with the cats it takes them about a week to empty their dish (its a large dog dish) and the rabbits I re-fill theirs about every other day (they don't have very big dishes). None of my animals are over-weight and they are all healthy, according to their vets.

Is how I feed my pets bad? Should I try switching them to twice daily feedings?

  • Anyone have this problem too?

I was using the trial version of AVG (the version with the identity protection, firewall, and anti-virus) to see if I wanted to get a subscription for it. The first night I had it, everything worked fine, no problems at all. The next day I have problems with internet explorer working. I figure its just because the lap top is still new and that it will work itself out in the long run. Well I have even more problems with it today. So when I got home I un-installed everything AVG and everything worked perfectly. I re-install just the anti-virus and I get the same problems. I manage to download Mozilla Firefox and start using it, it works just as good as IE did when I first got my lap top.

Is AVG just not compatible with IE? Has anybody else had this problem too?

  • What things do I need to know before owning a horse?

I'll admit, I'm completely horse stupid on some things. I haven't learned to ride yet, but I'm planning to learn as soon as I can. I also know I'm not financially stable enough to own a horse right now. I'm not planning on going out and buying one as soon as I can. I want to think this through and know what I'm getting into. I won't get a horse before I know how to ride. I love draft breeds, but know they are mainly used for driving, not riding.

Is it possible to find somebody that has a draft horse trained for riding and not just driving?

What things do I need to know?

    What expenses should I consider?

What breed should I consider? (I absolutely do NOT want to consider a TB)

    What gender should I consider?

    What supplies should I consider?

How much room would I need?

What other things do you think I need to know?

I'm in Iowa, I'm 18, and I'm female. I love all animals, and have always dreamed of owning a horse. I don't plan on going off and just buying a horse without knowing anything. Don't go off and yell at me for buying a horse when I don't know anything, I'm not planning on doing that. Please, be honest, but not harsh. I repeat I AM NOT going to go out and buy a horse before I can afford it and if I can afford it before I learn to ride, I WILL learn to ride first. Also, I don't own a horse now and I know it will probably be years before I can even think of going out and getting a horse, I know this and I accept this. I just want to know what I need/should consider.

  • Adding fish in with an oscar...?

I have a pleco, an extra-large oscar, a pictus catfish, and several guppies. My tank is 100 gal, runs 2 heaters, runs 2 filters, and is cleaned every other week or so. My oscar is an albino tiger oscar. I would like to add more fish to the tank, but I don't know what to add. I know my oscar will try to eat anything it can get in its mouth, so what are some types I could raise in my 29 gal and then release into the 100 gal? Would more pictus catfish be ok since I know they are schooling fish (plus my oscar no longer views them as food, at least the one in with him)? And he's seemed to stop eating live fish, excluding the pictus, cuz he tried that one.
